Yesterday brought farewell to the Friday Harbor Irish Music Camp at Friday Harbor, Washington. I must say, everyone who wasn't there truly missed out on a fantastic week of Irish music. The instuctors were absolutely awesome, Catherine McEvoy, James Kelly, and John Williams among them. *sigh* Take me back! Unfortunately, this week hasn't made me sick of Irish music, as I had hoped for a cure...no. It has instead fostered an unbridled addiction! So if you are considering attending such an event in the future, please be warned.As a few people have mentioned in the Briton Plans to Invade America thread, I had the opportunity to meet a couple of Chiffers there, as well--MurphyStout (aka Jack) and Azalin. After debating with myself whether I ought to shamelessly deride them for the fun of it, I decided I had best just tell the truth, as boring as that might be. They are both excellent players that made me drool with jealousy, and are awesome people to be around. A good portion of my enjoyment was undoubtedly due to having such excellent friends with whom to share my time. *cough* Okay, I feel pained by sappiness, I need to say something derisive. Jack, while you play better than I could probably ever hope to, you really have to work on that three-point eye roll. You just haven't achieved my level of technique. But that could be due to your maleness, which is a definite disadvantage. You have my deepest sympathies. Az, mayonnaise on a hot dog. That says it all.

Oh yeah, now this is skill. They were playing the Connaughtman's Rambles, I think. The B part proved especially challenging.
The camp was held at a marine research center and so was right next to the water. This was no more than a three minute walk from the dorms
This is a shot of a few of the buildings, although we didn't have classes in these buildings. But this does give an idea of that the camp looked like. There were a few deer running around that were quite obviously very used to people and they could often be seen throughout the day munching on whatever.
Well, I think those are the pictures I have that are of the most interest. Unfortunately, I didn't take many, nor did I take any of the instructors themselves because I forgot.
Anyway, I also want to thank Ava very much for allowing me to be one of those moochers to get a ride from her. Thanks so very much, and it was great to meet you all!! And I expect to be meeting more of you next year...
But reading your after action report, it sounded like fun, and isn't it beautiful up here in WA? I would save that pic of Jack and Az, I'm sure it can be used for blackmail someday.
Really loved the week, I'm sure I'll be back there at one point.
Anyways, you should get in touch with me and az and we'll plan out a summer trip or something. Hanging out with Az is great but we need someone else to get bored/annoyed with so email me you trustifairy!
