iPod - MusicMatch vs iTunes?

Post by claudine »

I want to buy an iPod soon. While we have a PC as well as an iMac, only the PC has currently web-access. So now I wonder if it is better to use MusicMatch or iTunes for the iPod. The iMac belongs to my daughter and I have never used it, while the PC is my own and I have already used MusicMatch for other purposes. So, if there is no disadvantage with PC and MusicMatch, I would rather use this than iTunes. Any advice???

A bit off-topic, but have you considered networking the two computers? This works wonderfully, and is quite easy, if you're working with XP and OS X. I have a Netgear router that runs a wired and wireless network, with both PCs and Macs at my house. We share our Internet connection.

I've never used Music Match, but iTunes is a great program. Many PC geeks I know are now using it exclusively. (If you weren't aware, there is a Windows version).

iPod - MusicMatch vs iTunes?

Being of simple mind I'm not always sure what you guys are talking about with English responses, not to mention the German stuff. The infallible Babel Fish translation site shows your reply as:

"My loved estimate moose, I think Dighbee am right already. And that iTunes Music net curtain is genuinly mega+cool. In eternal longing, your Koehlchen."

I'm not sure about the "estimate moose" greeting, but I agree that iTunes is mega+cool. It works just fine with Windows. Don't have an iPOD but one advantage of the Mac is you can download much quicker with a firewire connection vs a standard USB port. So if you will be loading a lot of tunes you might want to add Firewire to your PC.

Apple has released a PC version of iTunes, and it's free. If I were you, I would just use iTunes on both the PC and the Mac. It's a very nice program. You can get it at http://www.apple.com/itunes/.

Thanks all you Schatzies and sweeties. I think I will go for Apple and iTunes (my PC doesn't have firewire but the Mac has it).

Could get fishy for Apple. Apparently back in the days of the Beatles age they signed a contract saying they would never go into the music business. Well short story the Beatles created an Apples record lable and are now preparing to sue Apple over this contract.
