Great news! We're going to see them on March 18th. I hope they're not hung over.
Concerning live recordings, what lacks in sonic quality is often times made up in enthusiasm. BTW, I saw them this summer in a tent and it was one of the greatest live shows I've ever seen. Trevor's bass was a little too distorted but it didn't really take anything away from the performance.
The thing from the article that does concern me, however, is this line:
"Band introductions, stage patter, and crowd clapping were removed out of concern that Irish radio might be put off by them."
I'm not sure how they could do this without some sort of digital workstation processing, which is never good for the sound of a recording.

Lunasa is coming to Springfield, OH to the Kuss Performing Arts center this month. I can hardly wait! I have been looking forward to this for months. I know there are a lot of Dervish fans on the board, but frankly I was a little disappointed when I went to a concert last spring. Everything sounded the same to me. I am hoping that Lunasa is more entertaining.

- Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

Hmmm...on the Barnes and Noble website, they list the musicians on the CD and the instruments they play. Kevin Crawford, Sean Smyth, and Cillian Vallely are all listed as playing the "Human Whistle." Is there a new maker out there??

The web page is on crack. There is no "human" whistling on the album at all, as credited, and I certainly haven't heard any in repeated listens. There is a good bit of F whistle and one track which is a C whistle solo, and that's it.susnfx wrote:Hmmm...on the Barnes and Noble website, they list the musicians on the CD and the instruments they play. Only whistle makers credited are Mike Grinter and Phil Hardy.

Grrrrrr!
Compass seems to have a fault with it's online order system.
It keeps flipping me back to payment details.
