OT - You know you've been here too long, when...
You know you've been here too long when:
- you don't write new posts, but refer people to your old ones
- you include links to C&F discussions in email for not having to write the same text twice
- "chiffer" is part of your active vocabulary (extra points for using it offline, too)
- you recognize a Cranberry avatar immediately even when it's a new one
- you know all the emoticons by heart
- ...
Suggestions?
Sonja (being silly today, yes)

This question always leads to great fun. Check out 2002's nominations:

So folks, what can we come up with this time around? A lot of that old thread is outdated now - for example, Loren is number five in the ratings!

- Someone mentions whistles, in a sporting goods store, and you begin to wonder what The Weekenders' political take on Social Welfare among Botswana Bushmen is.
- It begins to make sense... the connection between war deaths in Iraq and Janet Jackson's Super Bowl Half Time Shenanigans.
- You begin to think that Martin Milner should be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
- Yell yeah and spit!

- Tell us something.: Just updating my profile after 16+ years of C&F membership. Sold most of my flutes, play the ones I still own and occasionally still enjoy coming here and read about flute related subjects.

- You get nostalgic thinking of 'The Coolboard Days'
- A newbie's raving about new whistles and beginning Whoa triggers yours but you have to think hard about what whistle is still missing from your collection.

Been here too long when...
-you know everyone by their avatar or signature alone
-you've heard a reasonable explanation for why jim stone has all those line breaks in his posts
-you've gone many times through the cycle of swearing off politics threads and then jumping back in
-you start editing photos to include whistles
-you try to learn origami through the Chiffy Chat! (thanks Walden )

Hi Cranberry!Cranberry wrote:I remember the board before this one, with no avatars, but nothing before that.
Also, kathy and I noticed that the last board gave you the ability to marquee and this one doesn't, which.......sucks.
Look at this! http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php ... ling#33972 Apparently if you Marque'ed before the switchover, it stayed. I think that I saw a scrolling sig the other day too, but I can't remember who it was, I was searching for something and it was in an old post.
Cheers,
Kathy
Ps. I wonder if you'd copy or quote the post if it would still work?

...when you review this thread and try and remember only having about 600 posts. Not bad for just a lurker, really.
... when you still remember when Aremnius posted.
... when "tweaking" meant taking amphetamines only.
...when you could literally read all of the listed pages of threads as well as the entire membership in a sitting. I think I did that early on.
...when you have spent way too much time wondering why rich never capitalized his name.
...when you ponder going back and editing out any of your REALLY stoopid Newbie questions
... when you don't even bother answering newbie questions but are amused at how six-month chiffsters do most of the answering as if they know all that much (hey, we have all been there at one time).
... when you can remember never seeing a political post on CF.
...when it actually WAS interesting to hear about the Ressikan flute.
You are down to your last few bucks, and, in between sending resumés out to most of the Western World, you take your message from one thread and post it here to announce that
Its over 2000 for me
