Outside the age limits of the poll I suppose but at least he managed to find his own chanter in time
Interesting looking stick in young Gus's hands there Peter. Is it an oldie?

Howyas,
Im 31 and I'll have my 21 years of learning, pracitsing and playing (or whatever it is) done in a few months. That 21 years also includes reading comics, watching cartoons on telly and kicking football. :D

Tell us something.: I've been playing the uilleann pipes, flute and whistle for about 18 years or so. I've been listening to Irish and Scottish traditional music for almost 40 years now.

Right, then. 42 next month, started GHP at age 13, but really wanted to play those things Paddy Maloney was playing on my Chieftains records (how many other of youse owe your first exposure to that sprightly geezer?). Bought a Leon R. practice set at age 20 - d'oh! Still a beginner 20 yrs. later. Acquired a functioning stick (no Viagra jokes please) via the miracles of cyberspace 2 yrs. ago and - d'oh! The 20 yr.-old vinyl bag leaked like a seive. MacHarg bag arrived two months later. Reckon I have about 25 good years left before they sell my pipes to finance my euthanasia (wot Social Security??). In the meantime, since I won't be able to afford retirement, I figure I can supplement my income by busking while working as a greeter at Walmart.

He found it under the bench in Cloghanmore. He wouldn't let go of it, as it happened it was his first birthday Geoff let him have it.

I'm 30, about to turn 31 next month.

I got my practice set when I was about 16, but never seriously tried to play until recently. I used to pick them up about once a year until the last 6 months or so. Been playing whistle since about 12, started learning old-timey tunes and then discovered the true faith when I was about 15. :)

I'm surprised to hear so many people are my age here....Where were you guys when I was the only kid in my high school playing Irish music and my friends were like, "Why do you hang around all those old musicians?" They all thought I was weird.

Dan, you wrote "I am 17 and started a year ago"
that's wonderfull

I am 49, started sept. 2001 and feel very happy with it
When I am old, maybe, I will be able to play
but at the same time I think: it is possible to put 21 years into 3 months
confusing

but anyway, when I am old I will be rich

Thanks for the welcome.
No I'm afraid the pipes aren't mine. The photo is a chopped up snap of Sean McKiernans pipes.
I'd been feckin around with the digital camera to take a snap of my own but couldn't get anthing within the spec sizes so til then I'm using the picture of Seans pipes coz they look nice.
