Got my first practise set when I was 33. Never made it work though, so I started practising regularly about 3 years ago when I finally got something decent. Now I'm 40 and still practising....

I'm 30, and I started piping when I was 26, after 6 months or so on the whistle.

Started when I was 30 but stopped for 20+ since I couldn't find any one to help out in So Cal. Got my Martin Preshaw 1/2 set last year when I was 55, so technically I've really been practicing for less than a year

I started playing flute and whistle when I was around 24, but switched to the uilleann pipes a couple years later when I was around 26...playing a practice set for a couple years, then switching to a full set for about 8 years, then I took a 10 year vacation (I sold my pipes  ) and then I bought them back a couple years ago at 46, and now I'm 48.

So, I actually have only been playing the pipes about 12 years.

Just turned 50 in November '03, began piping at 48 but I was looking for something to do with my next 50 years anyway!

I turned 64 Dec 30. Got my pipes at 54 years 5 months. I had been playing whistles in the neighborhood of 15 years previously.

Darn, I just realized I have been whistling for over 25 years.

No wonder my bones ache and my ears ring.....

29. Started playing the pipes at 10:30 pm on March 16th, 2002. At least that's when my own set arrived. I had played on a couple of sets before that.
