"O bring us some figgy coated bisquit thingy, O bring us some figgy coated bisquit thingy..."
Hmmm, no wonder the songwriter used "pudding" instead

Straight answer: No, a cookie (OK, "biscuit" if you insist) with a fig paste filling. The filling is visible from the two squared off ends of the cookie - look at the fipple end of a Gen-type whistle and image the plastic is dough and the windway is full of fig paste.Roger O'Keeffe wrote:What's a fig newton anyway, a biscuit with a figgy coating that always falls figgy side down?
It's the Apple Newtons that always fall fruit-side down (Apple Newton's do exist - s/fig paste/apple paste/)

Golden, cakey, tender flaky outside...
Wrap the inside in the outside and they're good darn tootin'
