Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a
listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of
which have the potential to turn a life around. -Leo Buscaglia, author

- Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

Woke up this morning, late to take the road hence hectic, squeezed an expresso out the machine "on radar", and weirdly there's this waltz precisely imprinted in me upstairs cells, and I'm busy and late, yet I keep humming this tune. I'm late, and I feel bad about it, yet I grab up the Reyburn G, and start correctly: minor mode, A starting note.
Just before I start the van, I go to the CD stash and, on a hunch, pick the correct disk. Who'd dare say my den is a mess?
It's the Khatchaturian's Waltz in "Masquerade". Have to try and work it out on the Strathowhistle, knowing it only seems simple...
PS: Going to-night to see a fantastic gypsy jazz trio (guitar, fiddle, string bass) in an unlikely local café. I guess the CD to-morrow will be Django Reinhardt's, and the tune to work out "Nuages".
PPS: great thread, this.

Oh my.... I didn't get to that Cyndi Lauper CD till today. It's a cover album of jazz songs. "Walk on by" the old Dione Warwick song just finished and it is wonderful. Lauper has such a fantastic voice. It brings tears to your eyes. Don't judge her by "Girls just wanna have fun".

The soundtrack for Return of the King in my cd player, and in my minidisc player a minidisc with "Hagnesta Hill" by Kent and "Vertigo" by Jump, Little Children and a few other odds and ends on it. Yesterday I was listening to the Stooges and Smashing Pumpkins. Yea, I know. Nothing Irish in sight. Oh well...

- Tell us something.: Just updating my profile after 16+ years of C&F membership. Sold most of my flutes, play the ones I still own and occasionally still enjoy coming here and read about flute related subjects.

Nice thread!
Playing right now is Tommy People's 'Waiting for a Call'.
Stacked next to the player, are most of the newer aquisitions waiting for their turn;
