Well the whistle is what brought us here but love and respect for each other is what keeps us here. :)

Tom

Isn`t that right?

I can't speak for those logging on from outside the US of A, but for we yanks, I have the following theory:
We aren't taught whistle in school. We aren't even taught Irish music in school. The options are pretty much limited to your basic classic band winds, or the string orchestra alternative.
I think those who take up the whistle are inclined toward something a bit on the edge of the societal norm, and that's probably reflected in the often off-beat topics and personalities that come through here.
Certain traits may be strong among whistlers:
Independence
Lack of interest in pretentions
Quirkiness

Any other theories?

Plus a desire to play faster than anyone else in the world.

Thats also true of 5 string players.

Of course, having clutzy, non-agile fingers doesn't disqualify some of us...but we do have to try harder.

Damn, too bad the 'net wasn't invented back when the standard fipple plug was lead, the group would be that much more fun.
