I have been using mailwasher for several months now with no problems on a Win98 pc. Did you try uninstalling it and then reinstalling?

Uh... silly me.
It took 11 tries before I could get Quicktime to work on my old machine... why should Mailwasher be any different.
Thanks for the tip Mike. Much appreciated!

Here is another vote for Mailwasher. I am running it on two PCs under Win2K and have had no problems. The feature to "bounce" the mail back to the sending server as though the email address is invalid really seems to do the trick.
Peace.

The president finally signed the anti-spam bill today after the senate worked it over all summer. Now what will you do for entertainment, Tony? :D

Lorenzo, I'll think of something. I'm over 400 SPAM e-mails a day now!

Why not go after the companies that instigate the spam? The sellers of herbal Viagra are multitudinous, but there're only a few companies producing it, and they would, I am sure, just love being hit with class action suits to tie them up in court and cost them lots and lots of money.

Same for the owners of the XXX-rated sites. You can easily find out who they are. Take them to court.

Don't have a septic tank? Start billing the company $15 per byte per day for storing their advertisements on your system. Send them a bill every week or so, and then start threatening to call the credit agencies about their failure to pay. Set a collection agency on them. This actually works, by the way. You can indicate that receipt of further email mentioning their product will indicate their acceptance of your terms for storage of their information. It may be a bogus shrinkwrap contract, but one they would have to prove was bogus in court, should you decide to take them to court over failure to pay. Want to own their business, their homes, etc.? I think it's workable...

Let's make the Basmatis pay!

Just over a month ago I closed my email account of eight years with my ISP. I was getting over 500 emails a day! My ISP claimed they were using foolproof antispam software....right!

About a year ago I went with a UK email address and have yet to be spammed! So I made the switch last month with several more Yahoo.co.uk addresses and still haven't been spammed. I guess the US is the land of milk and honey and spam!!

I’ll always read all the spam I get, even all foreign offers.
Most asian stuff takes a lot of time to translate as I have to identify each symbol from dictionaries
as I read along. Even though most of the offers in the past have been nothing but disappointments
( the herbal Viagra didn’t work, the enlargement thing was useless and the mail order Russian
brides didn’t even remotely resemble the photos on the website) I knew that one day I would cash in
from all this work.
Oh boy, you don’t know what you all been missing.
Last week the most incredible thing happened to me. One of all the million, trillion, zillion spam mails
I have stored on my pc included an amazing offer.
It was from this poor guy working for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC)
that had seen all the foreign investments and aid, supposed to be used for building refineries, be frozen by the corrupt government.
This money, by the sum of $38.000.000.00 could only be saved by a foreigner (READ ME) that could front all necessary approvals
and formalities for an international money transfer. In return I get to keep 20 % of the transferred funds.
I know Its almost too good to be true!
All I had to do was to open an account with $2000 to cover any up-front expenses.
As the 2000 was taken out from my account last week it must mean that the action now is started and soon I’ll be filthy rich.
Just cant wait to get a New UP full set, 10 SOK Bodhrans and hundreds of new whistles and flutes.
Heck, I might even end up with more instruments than Jessie K. :D
And best of all, as soon as the money is in my bank I’ll buy you all a new whistle.
SPAM is great, just dig into it.

Cheers!

/MarcusR (soon to be very, very, very rich)

Dear C&F Members:

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Peter Von Ganif a senior partner of the law firm of Ganif, Swindle and Finagle. We represent a new Biotech company named Innovative Acquisitions located here in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. This company has many exiting new projects in the works and, we feel certain, will be a leading company on the Nasdaq stock exchange in very short order.

I would like to offer you the opportunity of a lifetime. You can get in on the ground floor of this exciting new company just by participating in one of our clinical studies. We are about to launch a study into certain autoimmune diseases that are harbored and possibly transmitted through human saliva. One of our top researchers believes that a substance commonly known as “whistle drool” is very likely to be a major vector of this disease category.

To participate in this study, all you have to do is to carefully package all your whistles and send them to our corporate headquarters. We will test them and return them at, um ah, a later date. In gratitude for your participation in this very important study you will receive compensation in the form of 1000 shares of Innovative Acquisitions for every whistle you submit for study. This stock is assured to be worth millions in just a few weeks! By participation in this study, not only will you be doing a great service for mankind but also, you will insure the financial security of yourself and your family. In fact, you stand to become filthy rich! Don’t wait. Contact us now for specifics on how to enroll in the study and instructions for sending all your whistles to us.

Sincerely,
Peter Von Ganif, Esq.

Would that perchance be a wholly owned subsidiary of the well-known Boston law firm of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe?

Actually, we aquired the firm of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe last year using the proceeds from our historic and well known class action lawsuit in which we proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that Uilleann pipes are a leading cause of maddess. :D

Oh, please, please. Do send me a copy of this spam. It sounds so relavant to our situation here. I will add this important case law to my metal files in the drawer (I mean files in my mettle drawers) and study it with earnest. If any further expenses are incrued, or if you have set up a charitable organization, do include that information also.

Looking forward to this spam with great anticipation! Thanks so much.

Your bother in good faith,
