WOW!!! If you melted them down, you'd have enough copper for a bunch of low Ds...and enough for a couple high ones, too!!!

Looks like you've got enough for several. Want to borrow my crucible and pot furnace? :D

I remember when they sized down the 25 centavo coins (Philippine), because there was more brass in them than face value, and brassworkers were simply using them to craft their wares.

Never underestimate the power of pocket change! At the end of every day, I put mine in a big jar and once a year or so my wife and I wrap the coins. We use half of it for our travel fund, and donate the other half to charity. The amount is usually pretty amazing. This is a pretty painless way to save money and do some charitable work.

I would, but I would be either too busy or to lazy to do anything with it (haven't figured out which yet :) ). I have had an assembled bloody hands whistle that I still haven't had time to put holes in yet :)

Anyway, I'm currently saving for an Alba low D, which I should be able to afford sometime in January.

Funny you should mention the Bloody Hand whistle. The last time I'd looked at the plans it was the old one with the mouthpiece made from copper pipe. Just yesterday I went back to the site and discovered the really slick use of the sweetone mouthpiece (brilliant idea, that). Now, maybe I'll get off my duff and just make the Ab and Db whistles I want :)

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

Thanks for the link (had to do the properties thing, hmmmm). Great looking info on first scan.

I had started my first Low D using the How to make a Low D in a few hours method. I then used the <a href="http://www.cwo.com/~ph_kosel/flutomat.h ... t-O-Mat for the hole placement. Boy, did I ever make one that requires a WHOLE lot of air!!! I almost passed out playing The First Noel just moments ago. I got frustrated and never finished it. Check out this for non-standard whole placement! Some day I'll figure out how to fix it or just start over.

Good luck saving for your own!

Mash the near end of the tube down some, or stick something in it to lower the airflow. Look down the windway and be sure the edge of the blade is right at, or barely above, a line with the top of the fipple plug. Your hole placement may be right, but the diameter ratios aren't good for getting good octave tracking or Cnat crossfingering. I posted a set of ratios that work well for most whistles, a couple weeks ago. Look for posts from serpent (Yeah, I know there are a lot of 'em :) ) You aren't lazy, so just do a little more work, and you'll have a nice whistle!
Cheers, write anytime! :D
