Naming your whistle
Hey,
I like to name my instuments, not seariously just for fun =)
I named my saxophones too, my first Bessy because that's a classic name for a cow (sorry for all you Bessy's out there) (as you can see I don't like that saxophone) my other I called Precious, that's because I really like Lord of the Rings =)
So getting to my point, I'm buying soon a few whistles and I'd like to know if you have any ideas for names for.
And if I'm not the only the idiot that names his instrument, tell me if you also name your instruments...
By the way, I named my first whistle Scotty...

I used to have names for all my whistles, but except for my serpent (mr. slithers) I've forgotten them all.

I name just about anything that I spend a lot of time with. My computer, for example, is Igor.
You can tell I really like a whistle when it acquires a name. You can also tell, by the number of named whistles I have, that I have a great many that I really like. Here's a sampling:
Busman Kingwood: Nightingale
Elfsong D: Morningsong
Elfsong C: Evensong
Hoover Whitecap: Mara
O Briain "improved: Lark
Susato Kildare: Desmond
Susato Dublin: Banshee

My Elfsong D/C/E is named Beautiday, its short for beautiful day.
I havent named my Elfsong A/Bb yet because no suitable name has come up, I'm sure it will happen soon though. I refer to all my cheapies as my Babies Nothing complicated there, Im sure a lot of boarders have called their whistles their babies at least once.

I purchased a C Clarke in 2001, so I named it Arthur.

I don't know why, but I found this really funny. Made me think of Monty Python and Blackadder.pipingturtle wrote:My friend has a pair of violins called Eric and Bob.
I named my Ormiston flute "Two Rifles" because that's how much it cost.

When whistles are outlawed, only outlaws will have whistles!

verbally identifying whistles...
Hmmm... do "Hey You", "that one" and "No, the *other* one" count?
How about "*$%&#@!" ?
I'm sure I use others, but they escape at present.

Of course, Arthur C. Clarke is best known as a terrific SF author.
I did name it Arthur, but I used MacroShaft Weird's spell check and I wasn't paying close enough attention when I wrote my post.

Although I have dozens of instruments, only one has a name. Well, I could have told you that my accordeon is called Alphonso, my bouzoukis are Thespina and Mikos and my djembe is called Nkosi, but you wouldn't have believed me, would you? Well my Busman D is called Jerry Lee.
