Latest review of the first volume of "Wooden FLute Obsession" appears in the latest issue of the U.S. folk magazine Dirty Linen, #107 page 85. Nice pictures of Cathal McConnell & Matt Molloy.

"Wooden Flute Obsession" volume 1 (discs 1 & 2) are SOLD OUT! Thanks to everyone who has supported this CD project. There may be a few copies not yet sold through by the dealers (sold out at Amazon.com). I do intend to re-press at some point, and am trying to work out Irish & European distribution for more convenient purchase. Look for the second volume (discs 3 & 4): "Wooden Flute Obsession 2" ( http://www.worldtrad.org/WFO2_CD2.htm for some sound samples ) in early 2004.

I picked up my copy of Wooden Flute Obsession a couple of weeks ago at the Spruce Tree Music store in Madison, Wisconsin. I've listened to it constantly since then. It's everything I've been led to believe it would like from the reviews here on the Flute Forum. I can hardly wait for the next volume to be released. Outstanding.....don't know why it took me so long to get my copy.

thanks for the hard work....obviously a labor of love.
Peace

Namasté

Well, this should be an interesting experiment: A recording session starting in 1.5 hours with, hopefully, flute players Peter Horan, Harry McGowan, Gregory Daly, Mick Loftus, Thomas Bernard Ryan, Joe & Damien Stenson, and Michael Hurley. Them in Ireland, me here in Los Angeles. Sure wish I could be there, but sometimes community projects like this depend on leaving the experts alone to do what they do best. Wish us luck.

Good Luck Kevin!
I just ordered my copy of the WFO cd. Don't know why I haven't done so before. Or maby I do know, first there was this M&E R&R flute  $470 or something like that. Then there was this Yamaha Böhm Flute $600+. But the last was completely nessesary, I need it for educational purposes. I DON'T HAVE A TEACHER ON WOODEN FLUTES!!! :x I have to play the böhm as my individual instrument in music collage. But anyway. Looking forward to recive the cd now.

Cheers

hi kkrell,

I love the tone of a flute but the problem is that I cannot play them....so according to the pop psychology my humble collection of low D's are the "instrumentalities".

Anyway, listened to the clips and was about to place an order.
Wait.

PayPal :moreevil:

I don't even remember whether I got a reply from them PayPal folks after half a dozen of enquiries regarding *in*validity of my card. Why won't they allow me? The reason is obvious; I'm a rebel.

So, kkrell, I'm really, really sorry but I'll be placing my order from other shops....I ask for your forgiveness. I do not mean offence nor am being ironic, and the fact that you chose PayPal as a means of transaction has absolutely nothing to do with my grudge against PayPal. I just can't seem to get along with PayPal.

Good man Kevin! This is the best thing that can be done- producing a flute
compilation with great unrecorded (or almost) irish flute players! Ireland
is still full of very talented musicians who aren't very much known.
PS Have you ever heard of Kevin Ryan? Ronan Ryan? Two great
flute players.

Woah! Hope it went very well -- I'm always excited at the prospect of another Peter Horan recording, and it turns out I've been listening to a bunch of the others without knowing their names. (He says, after consulting the Mountain Road liner notes.)

Are they all located in Sligo?

For those who didn't find it, it's at
http://www.worldtrad.org/WFO_CD2.htm

where the info is known. I still hope to fill in the gaps. Similar info for the upcoming "Wooden Flute Obsession 2" is at
http://www.worldtrad.org/WFO2_CD2.htm

I don't have the CDs of the recording sessions, yet, but supposedly everyone went away happy. I'm afraid I won't be able to post clips until the contracts come back, so at least a couple of weeks.
