Moratorium II
Pursuant to my last topic, I wish to call a moratorium on posts containing a particularly odious non-consonant - most common symbol in our script, in fact. I shall do my utmost to avoid this linguistic and typographical blight and I trust that many of my co-flutists will rally to my call.
Hardly an original notion, I know. A chap did, I am told, script a full book in which this disgusting mark did not occur. I want only to push his outstanding work forward. Work which, as you will soon grasp as you follow in his footprints, brings many a difficulty and many a thrill as you burrow far into our fair Anglo-Saxon idiom.

Although many of you will not concur.
Which reminds me of a word puzzle, better understood by English-speaking, rather than American-speaking, readers, I believe:
If the B mt, put :
If the B . putting :
Don't put : over a - der.
You'd be an * it.
Best wishes,
Jerry

This will probably stand as my only post on this topic, for, as a mighty fan of Anglo-Saxon idiom, I must (and without causing a conflagration, I pray) firmly stand in support of that poor non-consonant so crucial to our way of orthography.
Basically, it's just too dang tough to do without it. I must actually think about how I go about composing posts! I don't go for that at all. Thinking prior to posting? A galling notion, that. Bah. Bah, I say!
So, in short, I must turn my back on this moratorium as put to us by a man who has that symbol doubly in his own nick! Again, I say: bah.

So there, StEvE.

I applaud your will to rid this board of tyrannical subjugation to that most odious of non-consonants.StevieJ wrote:Pursuant to my last topic, I wish to call a moratorium on posts containing a particularly odious non-consonant - most common symbol in our script, in fact.
Mayhap, folk such as I (quasi-linguist that I am) will follow you with posts worhty of your high standard.
