Davy Stephenson, please respond!

Post by TnWhistler »

Friends,

I hate to bring this on the board, I have sent private messages on here, and e-mails to Davy Stephenson, and no reply. I have ordered a student chanter 2 mos. ago and no reply from him he received my order. I have confirmation from the post office he did, but no word from Davy.

I read where he had been sick. Does anyone know him personally, to forward a message to him? I am not trying to imply anything here, I just want him to reply to me. Maybe save me an overseas phone call (my next step).

NuUPiper@aol.com

Thanks,

Just call him and don't be darkening our doorstep with your sob stories.

Hey Tim,

I've had a good deal of contact with Davy: he made my practice set. I'll send you a pm in a bit - once I get off of work - but for now, just so no one gets all flared up again about reputations, I'll be the first to say don't worry TOO much about it. Davy's legit and a great pipemaker. Ironically I just left a post here earlier today about how happy I am with my set.

Keep trying to raise him. He'll come through eventually.

Joey

p.s. where in Tennessee?

Thanks Joey for your offer, and Patrick thanks for your concern.

I made it very clear my intention, but I shouldn´t have even posted about it.

Maybe vendors shouldn´t post links to their websites here, since it´s restricted to mention them by name.

I ordered Davy a full-keyed C chanter a month ago,already paid the price.
Last time I contacted him 2 weeks ago (Email),he told me that he was very busy and had to leave his house for a while.
I also can't get in touch with him since then, but I'm not worried about it.

Hope that he is in good health.

Alright, I want to apologize for the post. I am frustrated. My chanter, for which I jave only one reed, needs a new one and the maker, whom I won't mention, (it's not Davy S.) says the reeds for his chanter are specific to his chanter, but is not accepting reed orders right now.

The reed is giving me fits. I sit down to practice and spend hours trying to adjust the bridle, the position of the staple, etc. and still is out of tune, distorted, and changes octaves constantly. I am in the middle of the ocean most of the time, (I work on a ship) and thought buying a new chanter would solve a lot of problems.

I was tired and wanted to try and contact this person. I should not have used this forum. Dale I am sorry. Patrick, you are right but could use a tad more tact. Again I need to think before firing off a post next time.

I wanted to clear this up and apologize also to Davy. I also hope you are not ill. Patrick I hope we're cool. BTW although my screen Icon portrays me as a 6 year old, I am actually quite older and should kow better.

Foot in mouth,

Timmy

Don't beat yourself up, Tim. You made it clear that you weren't impugning DS's reputation, and it became clear that your frustration is occasioned by another pipemaker whose anonymity you safeguarded but whose behaviour seems... strange, not to use a more derogatory term.

BTW, working on a ship seems like a radical cure for the dry climate problem.

And as an additional bonus, the audience is unable to escape :)

Additionally, if you're trying to email Davy, it may not be his fault you're not getting a response.

I can't get email through to him from any of three different smtp servers, and I'm b******d if I can figure out why. No rejected messages, nada. They just disappear into the bowels of the Internet. I haven't bothered to really chase down the problem, as that old fashioned thing that sits in the corner and rings still seems to go, if you wind it up a bit (my grandfather called them 'fellytones', or something like that).

He has a day job as well, so your smellybone calls may not be answered during the day. I've found that about 1800 local time is about the best time to catch him.

Cheers,
Calum

The same thing happens to me. The Email I wrote him dissapears
somewhere in the WWW world.
I don't know why but it happns often. Some time the mail from him
doesn't reach me or comes a week later.
For a customr abroad it's difficult to call him directly.Language problem, time difference etc. The only way left is the most ancient way.
Write a notE mail :-?

I got a reply from Davy today. It seems that he had a serious PC trouble.
With a little more wait you can have a chanter in a good quality in your
hand.
I'm not a expert piper but can tell you that his Student chanter works
very well. I'm playing one of his Studnet chanter in D right now.
It has the same quality compared to his Delux chanter. It's simply
made but not cheap at all.
Hope you enjoy your own one.

Domo Arigato Mr. Innerhand,

I am going to call him Friday just to touch base. I knew from everyone's pervious listings on the board he made nice stuff and was a stand-up guy. I appreciate your help.
