What is the alternative instrument to your favorite whistle?

Post by Hiro Ringo »

Tell me your favorite whistle and what you will play instead to give the most similar tonal effect/inspiration to you if you are not allowed to play your favorite whistle.

You don't need to worry about whether you can play your alternative instrument.

my favorite whistle:Sindt
my alternative instrument:oboe

Thanks. :)

I love the sound of Oboes. I should try to learn to play one.

You didn't mention hammered dulcimers (Boehm) or autoharps (Boehm and Decker)
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Favorite whistle: I'm a bit prejudiced here....
Favorite alternative: Von Huene Kingwood Alto recorder-- and astoundingly good instrument made by one of the modern masters of the craft.
Think WHOA is costly? I bought this many years ago at $600, and now they run about $1200 !! You can get a whole lotta whistles for that....

LOL

Boehm dulcimers, I would have to love the sound.....

I should have also added recorder, if only it was Boehm.

(just boehmping this thread...)

The Boehmbarde, in B-bald, great for the Bretoehn Musique.

Now the Biniou-koz (Boehm), pîtched one octave higher than the BHP (Boehrder Haggis Pipe), is a real boehmer.

To go with didgeridoos, Aboehmrigenal music and the like, I guess Wombat will suggest the Boehmerang.

Or the especially lovely hammered Autoharp, which I occasionally play in lieu of my Hoover Whitecap. ;)

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Personally, even though I love the Sax and all my other instruments, my favorite alternative to my whistle would be my Mando.
