I just wanted to add a "two thumbs up" to two I saw mentioned here:

Walden - I LOVE The Gods Must Be Crazy! (I read an article the year that film came out about actors who should have been nominated for Academy Awards, but weren't - one of them was "the jeep from The Gods Must Be Crazy.")

Claus - The Straight Story is a gorgeous film.

I'm glad to see Better Off Dead made someone's list.

I'll add some I don't recall seeing already posted.

Au Revoir Les Enfants (if it's misspelled, well, I don't speak/write French)
Nowhere in Africa
My Name is Nobody (Henry Fonda in a spaghetti western...tasty!)
Life is Beautiful
Hope and Glory
Moulin Rouge
Prospero's Books (just kidding - I thought this was one of the worst films of all time)

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I've grooved on many of the aforementioned movies. Here is my very incomplete list. The rest of it will come to me as soon as I hit the submit key. In no particular order: (I'm not listing them as the greatest movies ever made, but my favorites.)

Chushingura, The 47 Ronin
Jeremiah Johnson
The Big Lebowski
Zoolander
Bladerunner
Terminator (first one)
Ghost in the Shell
Rob Roy
Local Hero
Aliens (#2)
Star Wars (first 3)
The Seven Samurai
Army of Darkness
Repo Man
Earth Girls are Easy
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Platoon
Romeo and Juliette (when I was a teenager 1969 or 70; I was in lust with Juliette. I also enjoyed the music in it, sappy as it may have been.)
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Fists of Legend (Jet Li)

Whistle practice has cut way down on movie watching. Oh well.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

I don't watch movies all that much, but here's a few that I like:

Utu (concerning a Maori uprising in, I believe, the 19th cent.)
The Seven Samurai
Ugetsu
Braveheart (in spite of myself )
Tampopo (absolutely hilarious)
Black Robe
Tetsuō (also released as "Iron Man")
Tsubaki Sanjūrō
Jacob's Ladder
Hara Kiri (gnarly title, gnarly tale about social displacement and dishonor in high places)
Rashomon
Brazil

Hmmm...I don't seem to be drawn to the easy-going stuff.
