Happy message from my beautiful daughter

Post by Byll »

My daughter asked if she could give you all a message. She's young, so I got an OK from Rich...

Here goes:

Hello,
My name is Sarah. I am 8 years old. I play Irish whistle. I have an early Whitecap prototype that my Dad worked on with Mr. Hoover. It became mine because I wanted it. Mr. Hoover made my Dad another one. I really like Mr. Hoover. I play two songs, 'May It Be', and 'Sally Gardens'. I played 'May It Be' for my whole second grade. Now let me tell you that was fun. I also played 'Sally Gardens' in my Dad's band rehearsal, last night. That was fun too.I realy like playing Irish whistle and somday I hope to be as good as my Dad. I enjoy Irish dancing with my Mom.
Well thats all that I have to say. Thanks for listening.
From,
Sarah
PS. I want to join the board when I am old enough.

...And I, too, thank you for listening. Best to all.

Is there an age limit for this board?

I've belonged to lots of message boards with people who were very young.

Wow, Sarah, that's fantastic. Music is fun, isn't it?! What songs would you like to learn next?

According to Rich, the age limit (by law) is 13.
Best.

Wow, there's a lawful age limit to these things? News to me!

To Sarah:
I bet playing for your whole grade was really exciting! I'm sure you were nervous, but that you did great. Keep it up, and always remember to have fun with it! We can't wait to have you around on the Board. :)

It's obviously not very enforceable. If I said I was 5, what could really be done? :P

P.S. I'm not 5. I'm 6.

Yes, Hiro.

But how's her Japanese?

Hi, Sarah. Sally Gardens is my wife's favorite tune.

Best wishes,

Sarah,
I think you will be all right in life. You have a good taste in whistles, and everything else that it takes. :) Thanks for sharing with us. For your next tune, why not try Star of the County Down?

I also have one of the Whitecaps, which Mack Hoover was kind enough to send me. It's the nicest sounding high D that I've ever heard.

Sarah,
Thanks for writing to us. I think that learning and playing music is the greatest gift you can give yourself and others. It keeps giving throughout your life and will never let you down. You have great parents who have shown you the way. Treasure them too!
Best wishes,

Hi Sarah,
I'm so glad you are now interested in the whistle too.
It will be something fun to keep you busy this summer.
I hope you will start to learn how to read music too so you can do
all kinds of great things with music in your life.
Have a great summer!
Lolly

I didn't know there were age limits here. I'm probably too old to respond, but keep up the good work, Sarah! Learn to play Scarborough Faire next! It's very pretty.
