What's on your desk?

Post by skh »

From left to right:

- two jars of almond-beeswax mixture, one with olive oil added for corks and tenon threads, one with linseed oil and some turpentine for outsides (of recorders and my harp, no wooden whistle (yet))
- sticky tack substitute I finally found. It's called UHU tac patafix.
- black feadog head on LBW tube
- harp tuning key
- Soodlum Mello D
- LBW head on black feadog tube
- Susato A
- Gen Bb
- Susato Joint Grease- Meg C
- Powerbook ;-)
- notepad with list of tunes currently being worked on
- Matt Mollow "Shadows on Stone" CD booklet
- hifi remote
- electronic tuner

I didn't realize earlier, but I think I'm quite happy making music again.

Just sharing,

Sonja

Three empty coffee cups, a pile of my daughter's drawings, my digital camera, a Dixon D, and my daughter's dirty socks (I'm going to have to have another talk with her about that!)

Er...well...they've been there rather a while. Perhaps I ought to wash them first

I have to admit, my daughter comes by her habits honestly! :D

I'm not so sure this is a good idea, since I haven't cleaned my desk in a few days now...

- A cd binder of computer CDs
- A 20-CD tower of music cds...also has some Senior Night tickets, a packing list, and a photocopy of some liner notes jammed into it (thanks Tyg! :) ). A box of Kleenex is on top of the tower.
- A roll of scotch tape
- A VCR, which I finally hooked up last week. On this sits my computer monitor/speakers, a VCR remote, an eraser, extra pencil lead, and a miniature RC car
- An open pack of Rayovac batteries - 11 AA and 2 C
- A pair of "scissors" from a travel sewing kit
- A portable radio
- An empty 35mm film canister
- A minidisc recorder soft case (yes, just the case), two minidisc hard cases and two loose minidiscs. One of them is from playing around with making up melodies and I forget what is on the other one.
- A video tape that some friends and I made in 1990 and was recently rediscovered
- A half-full/half-empty bottle of water
- Six hard clear plastic art cases, about 1x4x7 inches. I wanted the case they came in for something else. The top one has pens in it now.
- An empty case for earphones...wow, lots of empty stuff on this desk.
- A cordless telephone
- Various scraps of paper that I won't bore you with: four full size, an envelope, and a bunch of little ones
- Sound blaster breakout box with a stereo cord running from it, and an optical cable next to it
- Real scissors, and a stapler
- A metal cup with a bunch of pens/pencils in it
- A wooden whistle stand carved by Mack Hoover. Currently has a Laughing D, Laughing C, Syn and a homemade whistle
- A spare button
- An empty bottle of juice that I've been meaning to take out
- A keyboard and mouse
- A hairbrush
- A glasses case with sunglasses in it.

Ok, I cheated. I left out the mess, and thankfully I don't have a digicam at home. ;-)

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

A handsbreadth-high stack of CDs (there's thrice that on the printer table) topped by forgotten paper and Carson's pocket guide to ITM, an ashtray-cum-paperweight (more forgotten paper), a coffeecup-cum-penholder containing a tube of superglue, a mechanic's thermometer, a wee screwdriver, brass rods, a glove stretcher (don't ask), a tiger-striped pencil with a cute li'l tiger head on the end (makes me think of you, Tyghress ), a rather mistreated chopstick, and a pen. It doesn't work. A sandstone coaster with a coffeecup-cum-empty coffecup upon it, a Bb maple fife, its foot ferrule standing aside, a "banker's" lamp, an industrial razor blade (why??), a really grungy US quarter, and the rest doesn't need mentioning. :D

Oh, yeah, and my laptop, of course!

My desk is actually my old camp trunk, so it's not large enough for too much interesting stuff, but here it is from left to right:
-A book on the Celts, my diaries, a Campmor catalogue, an Outward Bound Course catalogue, a little beanbag lizard, a pocketknife--all stacked on top of my drawing notebook and shoebox full of notes and old birthday cards
-Gen Bb in a little vase
-Elfsongs on homemade pegs
-old jam jar full of cheapie whistles
-a big board with my Outward Bound pictures on it
-computer mic
-webcam

Have a great evening all! I just got my course catalogue for college and boy am I psyched! :D

Lets see, computer tower, flight sims only, on top of that a force feedback joystick and a stack of paper work that I have no idea is about, various lighters, tobacco and rolling papers, 3 pens, none of which work, my old man glasses, empty coffee cup with its own patina, sheet music for
Anach Cuain and Bruach Na Carraige Baine, still converting the notes to letters  guitar tuner, Parkhurst Eb, Clark Original D and my garbage can whistle,(yes I found it in someones garbage can, don`t know what it is but I like it, may be a coopermans) two keyboards, one for flight sims only, overflowing ashtray, my Dixon rosewood flute which I just finished oiling and am about to let my breath trickel through, capo, bunch of notes with most of your names on them, oh wow my tire preasure guage, I`ve been looking for that and a magnifying glass, two monitors, one with a bf-109G on it and the other with a Spitfire Mark-9 on it. Oh and a jug of almound oil, and a bag of cheetos. That`s it. Oh and my other computer tower which I use for the internet and here.
