Star Spangled Banner in D?

Post by slowair »

I already searched the archive and didn't see it.

I've checked all my favorite places on the net.

Does anyone have or know where I can find the sheet music for the Star Spangled Banner in the key of D?

Thanks.

Doesn't the Start Spangled Banner have a range of more than 2 octaves (ie, the whistle)? I remember in chorus a long time ago they were talking about that it was a hard song to sing properly because of how high and low it went. Sorry, I'm no help.

Are you sure you need it? Try playing it by ear. I'm sure you know the melody. :)

The "Oh say" part is an arpeggio: AFD

Here's the Anacreontic Song, which is the tune to which F.S. Key's poem was set.

I particularly like the "entwine the myrtle of Venus with Bacchus's red wine" part, which sounds like a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

I just pulled out my muted Meg and played it through the first time. The only wrinkle is a G# that has to be half holed. I really didn't think it would be that simple.

I just played it on my trusty little Meg and was also surprised how easy it was. Even the half hole G# was simple. Isn't the whistle a great little thing? :D

Cheers,
Kathy :)

Yeah, play it on a G whistle and you'll be playing in the right key, even! :)

Cranberry,
I have Finale 2003, I can remake that into sheet. I even have the visual whistle fingering chart font to go with it. Tell me if your still interested ;)
