:D My weekend is over and am eating my turkey and oyster dressing. Have sung 5 masses in the past days-Thursday noc, Friday noon, Saturday Vigil and 6Am and 10AM. But connected with a drummer who will accompany me with my new fife and drum book(penny whistle substituted for the fife!) Happy Easter !

Happy Easter!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where's thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!

It's from a CD called "Sonne bis Frosch 2" with music for circle dances (yes indeed) from children, that we recorded with Morris Open for "Verband Rheinischer Kindergottesdienst" (i.e. sunday school). It's quite a weird mix of dance tunes, new songs, old hymns, canons ... and is to be released 1st of May together with a book about these dances. A little more information and some of our more "regular" repertoire can be found on our group's website http://www.morris-open.de. Still only in German, sorry!

Went to the vigil as usual last night, but as usual a joyful event. We had an outstanding cantor to do Exultet.

Same here. Our choir director chanted the Exultet (lovely baritone!), which is fortunate, as neither our rector nor our deacon can carry a tune in a bucket!

Ya I know what you mean!

Ah, now time to relax!

(And to start planning the next major event.... Mother's Day Mass)

The Choir Sang thier hearts out today. I am really proud of all of them... Made a few boo boos... however, I do not think the congregation noticed.

A few of the youth involved approached me afterwards asking me "when will there another CEG mass? When will there be another CEG Mass?" That makes me feel great! All the fun and hard work in practicing pays off. And to get the youth charged up in the music ministry is very exciting....

Alleluia!

I love the Exultet - it's one of my favorite parts of Easter. Our priest is my favorite Exultet cantor - he was a Trappist monk for 11 years in his youth and he knows how to chant. He doesn't have the greatest singing voice, but there is a difference between singing and chanting. He does the Christmas Martyrology as well. They both always give me goosebumps!

It sure is good to see you back Redwolf!

Claus that is such a good version of that hymn! I love that tune! In fact I played it today (on organ) as a prelude before the processional hymn.
The only reason I did not use it as one of the congregational hymns is that no one else knew it...........but they will by next year!

For anyone who would like the music it is number 184 in the Episcopal 1982 Hymnal. Key of C(although there is one stray Bb note in the refrain.

The notes on this tune are intresting-
melody is based on Victimae Paschali laudes(#183 in the hymnal) and the two can be sung/performed together, although some transposing would be necessary- I'd love to hear that done.
Words: Michael Weisse(1480-1534) tr. Catherine Winkworth(1827-1878)
Music : Christ ist erstanden, melody from Geistliche Lieder, 1533: harm. after Hans Leo Hassler(1564-1612)

Christ the Lord is risen again!
Christ has broken every chain!
Now through all the world it rings
that the Lamb is King of kings. Alleluia!

refrain:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Christ, our Paschal Lamb indeed,
Christ, today your people feed.
Alleluia!

He who gave for us his life,
who for us endured the strife,
takes our sin and guilt away
that with angels we may say:
Alleluia!

refrain

He who bore all pain and loss
comfortless upon the cross
is exalted now to save,
wresting victory from the grave.
Alleluia!

refrain
"Let low-country intruder approach a cove
And eyes as gray as icicle fangs measure stranger
For size, honesty, and intent."

That's lovely, Claus, and the whistle suits it. :)

The whistle by the way is an Overton Low C.

Happy Easter, everybody!

Very, very beautiful, even for an old Buddhist like me.

Hi Redwolf, nice to see you back. I bet you got a heck of a lot done during your internet fast, though, didn't you? Amazing how much time this thing can suck up! Sure is fun, though....
