Sorry. I live in Marin County, and the car was parked in San Bruno, CA (where I work), so it may not be of much help to you.blackhawk wrote:So...you live in San Jose, right? So where was it parked?
Are you looking for places to avoid or places to park an unwanted car?
(I hate emoticons. . . ). (Really.) (Ah well . . .)
Stay away from the corner of Sylvan and San Bruno Ave if you cherish your car. On the other hand, if you hate the thing, it's a great place to park (apparently)!
Best,
Aaron, bereft of a Generation, like Europe after WWI. . .
Ah, someone told me you lived in SJ. I was looking to avoid parking my car near where you lost yours. And my condolences!

Re: Damn!
Hee hee! I was in the same boat when I was getting ready to go to college many years ago. The first car was a 69 Dodge charger with dual 6 packs, Hirsch shift, and a 350 small block. Needless to say I repeatedly got in trouble with it so the parents made me sell it and promised to replace it for me. I got a 1978 Plymouth Volare with 200,000 milesserpent wrote:I have a car with 386,000 miles on it that I tried and tried to get stolen. Parked it on the street in downtown KC with the keys in it and the windows open -- no luck. Where'd you say you parked yours?

P.S. Sorry you lost yours. However, you'll probably get a better deal from your ins. adjuster than from a car dealer.
It was affectionately known as Beast and refused to die. It was never locked, the windows always down and no one ever took the invite. The radiator finally blew on it and I ended up with a 1984 Chrysler LeBaron. Life just kept getting more cruel. I've had a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix for the last 8 years which isn't too bad but with two kids the next vehicle will likely be....shudder...a minivan. Noooooooooo!

Sorry about the stolen car, Aaron, but you and I will be getting the same replacement!!! I drove the Toyota Prius and LOVED it, but it was too small to fit Tyghre for any length of time so we decided against it. But the hybrid Civic has a larger interior, and the same phenomenal mileage.

My condolences on the stolen property.... I hope that the things that you are upset about are returned, or are able to be replaced. In the end, I dont think its the fact that we lose the stuff that really gets us, its the fact that -someone- has taken what was ours, that they have stooped to that level which is the real kicker.
Sunday night my best friends car was broken into and her purse was stolen, all of her credit cards, cash, id's etc.... most of the stuff that mattered. Seems to be a trend these days

Hmm, I've had a brief moment or two where I've felt that wierd feeling your talking about, but it always ended up with me just having completely forgot where I parked the car. On the updside, you've got insurance, and so it ends up being an inconvienience, but not really a problem, per se (the house is still standing, you're still breathing, and there is no invading military forces smashing your city).
And hey, kudos to you for going for the electric/gas hybrid thing. That's really great. I hope you'll post about it when the time comes.

Sorry to hear about that Aaron! I live in the DC area, and when I got back to the slug lot last night, someone's car was up on bricks. Pretty wild. It's happening all over. I'll second the idea about the full moon, which is .... tonight, according to the U.S. Naval Observatory.
Hope all goes well with the claims adjuster. ...

Car Stolen
I am so lucky to live in a village of 1200 people with very little crime. To have my car stolen would finish me. I need my car so much being disabled. It's old and tatty but it's mine. So sorry for your loss and I hope the miserable ******** who stole it gets food poisoning or some such ailment.

It may be obvious, but if your door opener is recent (last 10 yrs or so) it is probably intellicode (Genie) or similar. If so, go to your openers box (the one with the light on the garage ceiling) and reset the memory, then the opener will be useless to them. If you've lost the instructions you can get it from the manufacturer's site usually.herbivore12 wrote:Thanks, all.
Along with the car, the only stuff I'm worried about is the garage door opener (I'm hoping that there wasn't anyting in the car with our address, inviting more thievery),
