The demographic breakdown by question is interesting.
Most knew Edward Snowden on sight. Few people recognized Marissa Mayer (admittedly, she better meets the expectation of a Fox news anchor than a major CEO).
Those with High school or less may not know what the DJIA does in a recession, but do at least know what the FED is for.
I think most people have heard of Google Glass by now, but we seem equally confused about what it is (including the survey writers... "A computer you can wear?" good grief).

13/13. Yay.
The most drastic differences are between <= High School and >= College. And the former are 69% of the electorate. Yikes.

Are you saying 69% of the electorate are at least college grads or am I misunderstanding? Whence that statistic?MTGuru wrote:And the latter are 69% of the electorate. Yikes.

Oops, I meant the former. Corrected, thanks. I was supposed to have learned the difference in college.fearfaoin wrote:Are you saying 69% of the electorate are at least college grads or am I misunderstanding? Whence that statistic?
Wiki says US college grads are ~31% : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educationa ... ted_States

Re: Whaddya know?
13/13
The Washington Post had a story on the results of an international science poll last week, which I can't find now. It's vaguely similar to the one on the Pew sits. The thing that I found interesting was that the US did well relative to other countries despite the doom-and-gloom that's been put on the state of US education and the negative spin the Post put on the US results.

Re: Whaddya know?
Well 11/13. One stupid mistake where I knew and the brain decided not to respond, but one I sort of question. I never heard the term "common core" used in the 40+ years I was in education. The term was "core curriculum."
