Copeland Whistle on Ebay

Post by 2T00TS »

Hello everyone,
Just a line to tell you there is a high D whistle by Michael Copeland in brass on ebay at the moment.
Here is a link for the item : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Copeland-D-Whis ... 2a3105dca8

I have no connection with the seller.

Throw a bid on it and see how you make out. :)

You'll have a nice whistle to play.

So why do you keep posting these links?

You've (so far) got nine posts on these forums, and all about others' eBay sales. But surely most folk looking for these things are capable of checking eBay for themselves and may perhaps even find their bids hampered by your unnecessary tip-offs after taking the trouble to do so!

Peter brings up a good question.

There are lots of whistles for sale on Ebay. Here is a new set:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-set-of-Walt ... 2c7269d730

Here is a whistle and a book:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Set-of-Gene ... 2c7269d634

Do you want me to list the rest of the whistles on ebay or maybe we should just let ebay list them, and people interested in buying whistles can just go to ebay themselves.

Tell us something.: Whistling for 8 years after 40 year break from oboe, not enough puff for that anymore. Play gigs, sessions and for own amusement, though not cat's.

I'm sure he just thought he was being helpful. I doubt he'll bother again.

Kind of a cranky response to the OP from folks who are usually more welcoming and patient. If you don't want to read the post, don't. If you're in the market for a Copeland and dont want anyone else who might be to know one is on ebay, good luck with that.

It's a topic that comes up from time to time with no real conclusions. Some like to know about eBay postings, some grump about them. Either way, it will pass and we'll get on to better discussions.....

Best wishes.

Not cranky at all...

I'm not. But I'm genuinely puzzled by an otherwise silent poster who seems to be here solely to sift through eBay for us!

I'm not puzzled. Seems to me that a relative of a major flute maker just might have an interest in flutes and like devices themselves, and wish to share the enthusiasm. Infectious, kind of.

I like these posts.
Not that I ever buy ebay stuff.
Nor will I ever own a Copeland, probably.
But, I do enjoy living vicariously!
Thanks 2TOOTS!

One of the reasons why I post is because some items just get missed. For instance, a few months ago, on Done Deal there where two Blackwood whistles by Michael Grinter, a high D and a low D, these items sat around for months were finally reduced to £500 pounds for the pair.

Good reason for waiting around, isn't it?

Of course, I could stand to miss a few more items.

I like these postings. I have no intention of ever buying anything on E bay. I especially like when you folks know the provenance of an instrument and dish all the dirt on a particular instrument. I liked the one about the flute that "could" have been owned by some Civil War guy.

You folks should work on creating a provenance that involves magic or elves and stuff.

I got a cracking keyless Doyle on ebay thanks to one of these tip offs from 2Toots. All the items pointed out by 2Toots have been desirable instruments so I think his/her posts are useful.
