Making some changes - Jubilee Music Instrument Co.

Post by Daniel_Bingamon »

After September 30, 2013, I'm cutting back whistlemaking. I will be still offering some of the unusual items that you can only find at Jubilee Music Instrument Co. but the everyday stuff is being stopped. A few item may go on Ebay after that date -- don't know yet - dont' ask.

I've been doing this since March 1998 - very close to the same time Chiff and fipple went online. I think C&F might be a bit older.

The new goal - everything that I've made in the past will go into various books/booklets. The Whistlemakers Anthology will be eventually expanded in the Exhaustive Whistlemakers Anthology (Can't help it, I like the name - who knows, maybe twice exhaustive) and I hope to put it on Amazon.com or some other type of publisher. To be determined.

I also want to make time to develop some electronic items which I used to experiment with before whistlemaking. Might invest in a 3D printer - don't worry, not making guns.

If anyone orders something before September 30th and the item doesn't arrive before that date, please don't panic -- I'm not going to just set the tools down and quit. I wouldn't do that.

In that case, already have a good sign for you to print:

I look forward to hearing about your printing endeavors. I'm trying to get my Reprap calibrated enough to get some good prints. Mine still aren't airtight enough to be useful for woodwinds.

Daniel!

A book and a 3D printer! Certainly not a sign of burnout or running out of fuel!

Blessed are the busy for they shall be busier.

Daniel, If you are thinking about using the 3D printer to print whistle heads, I hope you have better luck than I have had so far. Best of luck in your pursuits in any case.

What did you find? Was it just resolution that was a problem or other concerns?

Rather not hijack Daniel's thread right now. But I've run into lots of bumps in the road so far, resolution is a contributor to some of them.

Fair enough (when are you planning to highjack his thread?).
If you (or anyone) feels so inclined, I have started a 3D printing thread at the Trad Tech forum:

Tell us something.: I am a Professional Musician in Phx, Az. Lived in Calif(Hollywood) for about 10 years(1970's) working in the studios and on the road with stars of the day. Started to follow my roots which took me back to the old country and the Irish Tin Whistle. I wound up here on C&F forum!

I have several things I'd like to use a printer with.
Part of a whistle head is not a bad idea. For that I was thinking of it from a component perspective instead of making the whole thing with it.

Not run out of stream, just don't have enough time.

Recently though, I finally made a Low-D Ahava Rabba (Freygish) mode whistle with two keys (the bottom pinkie key does the C note below the D scale.

If anyone wants that dimensions and tonehole placement, please email me.
The toneholes alternate 1/4" and 3/8" from the bottom going up.
