How to notate half-holing
We all write oxx ooo or something of the sort to sketch crossed-fingering.
How should we show half-holings? For instance on =C (Cnat), should it go :
1) coo ooo (this c is hard to spot)
2) °oo ooo (just a suggestion)
3) oOO OOO (same idea, maybe easier?)
4) ~oo ooo
5) @OO OOO
6) something else--you type it!

Hey Zoobser,
To be honest I would never choose to use this form of notation anyway. I suggested v because it looks like half an x. I think I've seen it before.
If I'm going to read a tune in any form of notation, sheetmusic is my first choice, abc second. Neither worries about telling the player how to achieve a note, just what the note is and how long it is, and you figure out for yourself how you'll play it.
p.s. I couldn't find how to do Wombat's symbol on my keyboard - but most keyboards have a v.

Oh, now I get it.Martin Milner wrote:I meant the O with a line through it. I can only get it in certain typefaces as the symbol for zero, and not the standard one used on C&F.
I guess what I'm saying is it's not a standard symbol used in english as she is wrote, while v is. Does that make me a xenophobe?
That doesn't make you a xebophone
but maybe a dyslexian:
You meant "Walden", typed "Wombat".
Open your System resources, try configure your puter to "keyboard=English" which often works better than KOI-8
