Do you dream (while sleeping) of playing other instruments?

Post by mutepointe »

I know how to play quite a bit more instruments while I'm dream sleeping, violin and harp come to mind. I'd like to be able to experience playing the cello.

No, but some of us have fallen asleep while playing our instruments. Seriously, there was a thread about that.

Haha I do..

the weirdest thing I can say is my practice continued to my dreams.

In my dream there was an old man, about 60's scolding me on my Rhythm.

Yes. In no offense to any older persons. We all go there, you just get there first.

The dream was very clear. The old man was bald, nearly all the hair was gone except the sides, he is also wearing glasses, white long sleeves, with suspenders (or garter thing to hold your pants, whatever you call it.)

He was also wearing a silly hat, maybe something to cover his hair loss,in the color of grayish brown, or brownish gray.
He removed it and pointed it to me and told me, " "yer" giving me a head "arche" ".

He speaks English with a different accent, sort of a New Yorker but has a lot of "H" and " R" in his sound. I can not determine his nationality, but one thing for sure he was serious teaching me.

He told me to slow it down and cut the beats to 4.
Determine the fast note and count if it is in one beat.

He is a good teacher. Though I don't know who he is.

Clearly not, MT. Based on the description, Angel has guessed the guy's age wrong. He's at least 103. In fact, I think it's George Burns.

Yes, but in my dreams I am playing them well.
At that point, I say to my self, AWW! I'm dreaming again!!
Lately the dreams are of playing a concertina, which I've yet to have in my hands.

Only daydreams. One of them came true recently when I finally got a used autoharp. That instrument is far too much fun. My other instruments haven't gotten much love since it showed up.

I used to have a recurring dream about playing the violin, although I've never really liked solo violin. I always was at a friend's house and we would get a dusty violin case from the top shelf of a closet. I would open the case, take out the violin and start playing (all without tuning or tightening the bow, of course).

Really bizarre dream, which was really puzzling me. I really didn't have the urge to play violin... until I got into Irish music. I got my fiddle, and the dream has never come back.

Otherwise I have only dreamed of dropping my instruments or sitting down on them.

I did dream about composing the most beautiful music, though, and I could even hum part of it after waking up. But before I could record it or write it down, it evaporated.

This is a neat thread . Dreams play such a role for me since I started with whistle and flute. There are no instruments in my dreams, just ITM music and nothing else. I can live in the tune in my sleep. In the day I slaughter the poor babies while I'm fluting.

Tell us something.: I like whistles, flutes, lyres, cittern/mandolin/bouzouki family instruments, as well as heavy and nasty slap bass. Languages, linguistics, history (especially Migration Period and Bronze Age Europe), cuisine from various parts of Latin America, chili growing, bushcraft, and the works of JRR Tolkien also tickle my fancy.

Edited because my dreams are too weird and I don't want people to think I'm crazy or on something!

Long story short, I have only dreamed about instruments that do not actually exist, if that counts.

Sirchronique, it would be interesting to hear what instruments you invent.
