Bruddah IZ

Paul wrote:Hey Limuhead, Man that's some great music! I just listened to your Ka Ehu Kai cut "Ahulili". That is awesome. Me and my wife, Ku'u helehelina la ili'i me ka minoaka nui love Hawiian music. Especially that sweet traditional sound with all that harmony.

Did you ever get a chance to meet Israel Kamakawiwo'ole? Bruddah Iz is one of our favorites. Unfortunately we didn't stumble on to Hawiian music until after he passed so we never got to go to a concert.

I hope that everyone on C&F gives Limuhead's MP3s a listen. It's really good stuff.

All the best

Hey Paul, thanks for the kind words! I'm really glad you and your wife enjoy the music...

I actually did meet Bruddah Iz. We were the opening act for his one and only mainland concert here in California. He passed away a few months later, but his music lives on....

Thanks again for taking the time to listen, and for the great plug!

If I remember correctly we had an awful lot of clarinets listed in the thread on other instruments played by folks on this board. Maybe we need a poll of clarinet or clarinet/oboe players who are also whistlers?

That might be interesting, cowtime. I am doing this poll, b/c I'm one of the "Saxophonists who converted to Whistle..."

lol. Maybe a Clarinet/oboe/double reed player might want to do another poll?

Sax to whistle to flute

Post by scottadm »

I picked up the whistle to play trad and celtic rock as it was easy to play and the sax just didn't cut it. Somehow I went from one of the easiest instruments to play to one of the hardest. Flute - musical instrument or instrument of torture?

What an odd question. I played tenor and bari from 3rd grade until my senior year in high school. Shortly thereafter, I lost my sax to a pawn shop.

I was actually thinking of purchasing a new sax in the near future. Probably a cheap suprano because they've always fascinated me. Does anybody have any buying advise?

BTW....marching bands ROCK!!! At our 10 year class reunion the band was still the tightest knit group of friends. The jocks were all bald and fat
