Cheap plastic/polymer flute
I need a very cheap (but always a bit good) plastic flute, waiting to buy a good polymer or wooden one (now i've not a lot of money)
My budget is more or less 100-120$. What do you suggest me?
Doug Tipple, Dixon, Hamilton or others?
I've also seen this:

But it's out of my budget

Doug...definitely Doug in that price range. Or, a Billy Miller bamboo flute...which is not plastic...but a great deal if price is the key issue.

Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities. Ashes, Ashes all fall down.

Tony Dixon is now making inexpensive Tapered Bore flutes with one or two piece bodies (£32.00 & £56.00).
Here's a link to Dixon's Website: http://www.tonydixonmusic.co.uk/catalog ... nshop.html
Here's a link to Calum Stuart playing one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkAzL4JosFM

Dang...that puppy sounds pretty good. However, Calum Stewart is likely to sound good on anything.
Re: Cheap plastic/polymer flute
I played one of the new tapered dixons and was really taken with it for the price.
The taper is slight and I wonder why he didnt make it more like a conical flute ifthe technology is there?
I didnt much like the whistle version though with more time with it it may have grown on me.
I would have bought it that day but the store wanted seventy pounds for the untunable and I know its cheaper elsewhere.
If Dixon were to make an E, F and G around the same price every fluter should buy one.
(and would!)

Tipple D four piece in black PVC.
These are my first flutes.
Hans Bracker also has PVC flutes, though I've no experience with them.

Re: Cheap plastic/polymer flute
I picked up a Tipple in D, black with faux silver rings, with lip plate and wedge. Very happy with it.

Re: Cheap plastic/polymer flute
The 2 piece Dixon is there: TB021D - Tuneable flute
You just have to scroll down from the link above. It's likely PVC or a PVC like material...his 3 piece is Delrin but I don't think his other flutes are Delrin.
Tony will respond if you email him, though, so you could find out for all of us.

Thanks Jordan. I'm hoping to try one next time I visit a shop.
An aside question: Calum is using baroque fingering grip for the right hand in the playing. I've seen him do this mostly for his flute playing like:

(what flute is this one btw)
The Dixon is affordable
