Aye, very interesting... and I'm holding pancelticpiper personally responsible for rekindling my latent interest in smallpipes in a way that's sure to have consequences (and has done already with hours of Googling and several email enquiries now followed by joining the LBPS tonight and ordering a couple of books)! :o

Just to join and ruin the good company (great thread idea....), there are quite a few whistle clips including (intended as) teaching demos on my YT channel.
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

Well done Nomi, great idea this thread (although some folk are way too good/professional)

I joined this forum before the 2001 date listed here. That's the date I re-joined after I accidentally took myself off.
I added uilleann pipes to my whistling in 1995, and have since also had a couple of flutes. I play the flute a lot as it sounds good and doesnt need reeds (Haha).
But the whistles are still big in my music, all sizes, even a Low A (on loan to Calum Stewart).
Burkes and Generations are my weapons of choice.

Anyhow...here's me whistling to demo a Bflat Alba I was selling.
(the second half is better than the first haha)

The link did seem to work when I tried it. I only became aware of this clip on "Youtube" a few months ago.
I played with a band called "Ceolbeg" for a few years in the early 1980s, leaving in 1985 when they decided to go professional. The band carried on - in a semi-professional basis - until 2002, when it was decided to do a farewell concert with as many former members as could be rounded up for the occasion. Apparently some of this was filmed from the audience and some of the footage from that concert is now on "Youtube".
I'm the flute-player, coming into shot a few times on the left of the screen. The fiddler is Stuart Morrisn, composer of "Maggie's Pancakes".

Great stuff Kenny. May also help to suss you out at the Willie week.

I don't like leaving stuff on yertube very long when I put it up at all. There's still this though.

Here's a key of C Blackbird/C Mellow Dog (same whistle, nickel vs. brass tube, black vs. green top). In this case, it's the C setup of a Mellow Dog D/C set.

Tell us something.: I love uilleann pipes and I have become obsessed with them. But now the antispam software is just irritating the hell out of me so I am typing random crap to get past the minimum 100 character limit.

You played on that? I love that tune... and that version.
I'm pretty sure that was the first tune I ever learned on a whistle ...because it had to be.

Yes I played that, that's me. On two episodes of Highlander, and I also played on the soundtrack of one of the Highlander movies.

It's just a "cover" of the version on an album somewhere... but that's what they do in Hollywood, they hire people to do a "cover" version, rather than pay to use the original.

Nice thread! When I've posted this, I'm going to have another look at the original posting link (I LIKE it) and see if I can learn that neat finger-rolling trick...

There's only one YouTube record of my whistling so far - but I'm off screen and mostly drowned out by accordion & bells (Morris dancing), so instead here's one with Karen Tweed's No 1 Ladies, playing the theme from 'Amelie' at last years Truck Festival.

I've only listened to the first clip there as yet, Phillip. But that is beautiful playing. Absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks!
