Blue on blue, heartbreak on heartbreak ...........

Nope. Not hardly. Blue on blue is almost unreadable and black on grey-blue isn't much better.

Everything is much smaller now, and I can just barely see anything on my old 640 by 480 screen. And it takes longer to load, too.

The emoticons are the stupedest idea since white bread, and having them "emote" onscreen is even stupider, IMHO. I don't need things blinking at me, thank you very much. I suppose thebig black boxes mean something and it is explained somewhere.

The font is very nice, though. Always liked a sans=serif.

Boy. It sure takes a long time to get from page to page. And I have to keep sliding the page left and right to see everything.

This is a now a website for rich people with expensive toys.

I'm hauling me and my old 'pooter out of here till I upgrade everything to the new standard. Bye bye.

I guess that I am lucky in that I have never been to another forum nor had anything to do with any online kinda place like this. I do realise, however that upgrades are sometimes neccessary and they realy don`t bother me. I have always thought of this place as Dales and Richs place so I would say I am happy with the changes. I do have to agree with the Weekster about Netscape. True piece of garbage. I remember back when I had windows 95 that Net Scape 4.5 was the only way to go but that was then and this is now. There are just to many conflicts with 98 and Net scape. I did try out 7.2 just to give it a chance and then spent a day trying to get every trace of that lousy browser out of my computer. IE 5.5 was realy the best I had though I have just gone to 6 and am trying to like it (no I`m not happy with it) but it will take some work. Anyway thanks Rich for the hard work, if your happy I`m happy.

Chuck Clark- I do like that Border Terrier! Wish I knew how to put up a Skye on mine.

I like this new board look.

I like the new features of the board, and can readily appreciate why Rich wants to run a current version of the BB software. That being said, I am not very fond of the new look, which is a bit too busy for my tastes. Seems like there are buttons and icons everywhere... Of course, the avatars are "sort of" nice, and at least they're free! At another website I frequent you have to earn points by uploading useful stuff in order to "purchase" an avatar! :)

Rich, the profile screen allows one to select the "skin" of the board, except only one option is available. How 'bout letting us have some more choices?

Cheers,
Jens

I reckon it's great - a massive improvement for me.

Huge thanks to Rich for the hard work and support :D

(Can you add any more emoticons?)

New Forum Look

Post by Mal »

From what I am seeing on my computer, the "new look" is the pits!
So I voted "No" on the poll.

The reason for my dissatisfaction is there is no way for me to tell what message srings have been updated since I last checked the forum

According to the symbol footnotes, when one logs into the forum new messages and updated message strings are supposed to have a pink symbol, while those messages and message strings which have not changed since last one checked are designated by a black and white symbol.

Unfortunately. all the message symbols on my screen appear in black and white. (The rest of the website colors are exquisite, however, but I'm interested in getting information, not enjoying artistic aesthetics.)

Sorry Rich! When I start seeing colored symbols, I would change my black ball to a pink ball and vote differently.

Colored Symbols

Post by Mal »

Well, what do you know!!

After registering my beef about only seeing black and white message symbols since the new forum look was inaugurated, with none colored to indicated that the message was new or was an updated string, I returned to the forum, and lo and behold, some of the symbols which had been black and white were now colored!

I never had such fast response to a complaint. Is this some kinda website or what!!!!

I think there's a possibility that you have to be logged in to be able to see what threads have new posts... I noticed I don't see them either if I'm not logged in. Rich is great at responding to things quickly, but I think you might have fixed that one yourself, simply by signing in. :)

AOL owns Netscape, that might be a conspiracy to have people move over to AOL.

I'm looking forward to upgrading to Mac OS X and trying the new MAC browser Safari. Anything but IE and Nutscrape.

I really like this uprgrade Rich! A job well done

That's exactly it -- the new version keeps track of what posts a user has seen (best I can tell -- I'm still exploring things), while the old one kept track of which posts a browser had seen.

That means that when you get home you won't have to remember which posts you read at work, but it also means you need to be logged in. But you have to log in to get your private messages, vote in polls, and reply, so I figure that's a good thing.

Cheers,
-Rich

Yes! And Bill Gates countered by sending charitable donations of computers, through the Gates Foundation, to the public libraries (what introduced me to the Internet). It's all explained in Chapter XIV of my new book The Librarian Conspiracy, from Waldco Press.

"This book is the greatest treatise on the metastructrural alignment of the post-modern age since The Blair Witch Project inspired a new wave of reality television," raved the Weekly World News.

"This book is really great,
I could read it at the gate,
I could read it on the shore,
I could read it by the door!
It has taught me to be wary
Of Bill Gates and the Library" quoth The Cat in The Hat, after reading the groundbreaking book, The Librarian Conspiracy!

Available in finer bookstores everywhere, and also in Waldenbooks.
