Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities. Ashes, Ashes all fall down.

I saw Tull in '75, can't remember if it was the Aqualung, or Thick As A Brick tour, but great nonetheless. Super Showmanship, still evident in Dave's youtube clip.

I was gonna say... Saw Tull in '73 for the Passion Play Tour, a year after Thick as a Brick, and two or more after Aqualung... (yes.. I have every album.. :really: )

Thanks for the vid, David - heard Ian do "Merry Gentleman" in the middle of a solo a long time ago... glad he keeps up the trad tunes, as well.

I decline decorating for Christmas at work. I always offer to play Christmas music as my contribution. I've been playing Jethro Tull's Christmas Album and some Mannheim Steamroller today.

Well there is a reason why his group beat out Metalica in the Grammy award for best hard rock/metal in the 80's.

Ian was the reason I started playing flute in 1972. Didn't start in with ITM until 1983. But even Ian had his influences. Ian recorded this tune on Tull's first album. The original was done in 1964. Here is a live version.
