POLL: Who likes the new forum look?
POLL: Who likes the new forum look?
This is more a test of how polls work, so I fully expect Rich to whack the topic with a sledgehammer...but someone has to be the first to get whacked, right? Da Cat is volunteering!

Naw, it can stay. (Hrm, I suppose I ought to vote. )
But keep in mind that this is what modern forum software looks like, whether PhpBB or vBulletin or whatever other. The stuff we were using before was a year and a half old and was no longer being developed. I'd patched a bunch of security holes myself, since the developers won't fix them anymore -- but the last couple of weeks involved sufficient abusive behavior that the alternative was shutting down.
To emphasize: We did not upgrade because it looked prettier; we upgraded because this version is being actively maintained by the developers, and because it has extensive anti-abuse features that were missing from the previous version.
I only had one evening to spend on it (and I was up until 3 am at that) to get things going this weekend, so there's been little to no performance tuning yet. I'm not sure how fast/slow it is compared to how it could be yet, but that will get attention later this week. We're also getting a new disk controller, probably next weekend, which will speed things up tremendously in some cases.
Cheers,
-Rich

We know you, addictive South Florida voters.Mike J wrote:I tried to cast more than one vote, but the system wouldn't let me. So that feature works.
But it's ok, in Corsica, voting is also the major national sport: all of the graveyards vote! Must be something about southern peninsulæ or islands
Here, i'll insist Rich recounts all the votes and disassembles all cookies by hand!!!

The look is alright.
I can get used to the new look. What I don't like is that, unlike the old version, it refuses me on a spamblocked email address.
