Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Tell us something.: To paraphrase Mark Twain, a gentleman is someone who knows how to play the spoons and doesn't. I'm doing my best to be a gentleman.

I've owned about 10 flutes over the 23 years I've been playing, but rarely more than one at a time: three Boehm flutes, three simple-system flutes, and a handful of bamboo/PVC flutes (these have been concurrent with the silver and wood flutes). I've been playing the same flute for 7 years now, and it's the only one I have.

What's fascinating to me is that as flute numbers rise, owner numbers taper off as common sense would suggest, and it's a roughly steady decrease. But then once the number hits sixteen plus - *BAM* - it's like an explosion.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Well, if you're gonna do it, don't mess about, sez I.

Certainly. BTW, we used to call the general condition FARDS (Flute Acquisition Regulatory Deficit Syndrome, IIRC) for a while around here but the discussion hasn't seen the light of day for a while, so the term was forgotten.

two. a mcgee rudall refined with 4 keys, and a mcgree 'c' flute with an unlined head, no keys. love them both, but wouldn't mind having a pratten style flute at some point.

Wow. If you've got two McGee flutes, your quest is over.

I really love the sound of these flutes.

I think something worth noting is that not everybody who voted that they have owned more than 16 flutes currently has that many. I have owned more than 16 and voted accordingly but I currently own 3 but one has two headjoints and bodies (my 8 key J. Gallagher pratten has an extra headjoint with a deeper chimney and keyless Eb body, I am not the original owner.) Just thought that should be clarified. Also because someone has owned 16+ flutes doesn't mean they have owned 16+ top-notch instruments.

Hello, my name is Jordan.

[Everyone say hello!]

It has now been over 24-hours since I got my last flute.

[Cheer and Offer encouragement!]

But I really really want another one baaaad!

Is there like a 1-800 number I can dial when I start to falter? Or perhaps someone to call for an intervention?

I just can't help it, I'm flypaper for flutes! :P
Keep on Tootin!

Jordan
