Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Even if it plays well, it would be hard for me to get past the appearance.

It's a monstrosity alright, but I'd definitely like to try to play one. Could be great. Hmm...only $10,000. I could get it and resell it here on the Chiff board if I don't like it.

God love 'em, I hope wacky inventors never stop inventing wacky stuff. But if linear chromatic layouts made sense to human brains and hands, we'd all be playing them by now. Pianos would have 12 identical white keys per octave, which we'd call a duodecade instead.

Just 12 tones in a scale, accessed through a linear key system?

How primitive.

This one does infinitely-variable microtonal scales controlled using a direct one-to-one control interface: http://tinyurl.com/3avqye2

Looks like it was made in 1966 for an episode of Star Trek.

I think those outriggers are kinda cool.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Which made me think of the generalized piano.

C flutes are available for $10,000 plus shipping and require a $2000 deposit. Expect up to one year for delivery

I thought the flute was pretty but I'll save the $10,000 and do the mental gymnasts and continue non-linear scales. My life has rarely been linear anyway. Why should musical instruments be any different?

Yes, the smart or serious thing to do would be to offer the conversion on a Bundy student grade band flute or the like. I'll bet quite a few people would be willing to give it a go for a few hundred bucks, but not $10K.
