Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I suppose, to harp on a Merkin theme, they could get called Black Hawks - after all, he has to chopper them up :D . And the low version would, of course, be Black Hawk Down!

Would really like a black one as well. Think all the good name ideas have been mentioned. What about 'Banshee'?

Mr. Parks,
Are you going to be making Everywhistles and Walkabouts in black pipe?

At the risk of stating the obvious, there's already a line of "bird" whistles. I like Shade and Shadow, they go nicely with Ghost.
The Walrus

What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?

The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.

A chairde,

Sorry to go missing for a while there. Busy with orders, getting herself off on the airplane, sessioning, that sort of thing.

Anyway, I'm pleased with your interest.

Jem - I know you would have done it. That's why I didn't ask. :boggle: Ha. It actually works out well this way because Phil and I can pass credits back and forth and don't have to pay the bankers to change the money back and forth.

But, if for some reason you have some you would like taken off your hands, let me know.

...Whatever you call it, I want one, high D please. And remember to use the cream color for the logo. Lovin' that Bb.

ecohawk

I had no doubt ecohawk, thanks for your interest. I'm thinking cream too. It doesn't come all glossy tho. Maybe I can shine it up, or maybe I'll have to go with Jem's flat finish. Time will tell.

dspmusik and Peter - Aside from the search for an Irish tie in, I sorta like "Ninja" too. Seems to flow well when one says it.

As for a contest, not everything is best decided by a vote. However, that doesn't mean that the input of many people isn't useful, even if just to shake up the thinking enough to make a decision. But I might go for a random draw among those who offer up an idea. Yeah, I think that's what I'll do. Keep the ideas coming, and I'll do a draw when the whistles are ready for prime time.

Ben - Tell SO that I'd have to do a special edition "Bat Whistle" with a built-in case that folds in and out or something. Good jolt in a creative direction. I have a positive reaction to "Crow" The crows here are quite clever. If you park your bike with a zippered purse or small cooler in the handle bar basket, the things will undo the zipper and help them selves to things yummy or shiny.

Skyclad01 - "Nevermore Whistle" is a little obtuse, but maybe just enough. I like how it works when listed next to "Every Whistle"

Folk312 - "Panther" another nice image with no name squatters I know of.

walrii - "Shadow" is quite good. And has a connection to those who were alive when. "How's that tune start again?" .... "The Shadow knows, ha ha ha ha..."

maki - Yes, sort of. They won't come out exactly like the white whistles because the material is a different size and has different properties. But basically yes, I will have C, D, and Eb two and three piece whistles in black on offer before too many weeks. (I hope.)

There, I think that covers it. Hopefully I'll be more diligent in the future. I better go take some photos of the work I did on Jem's sample stock before the actual batch arrives. Phil tells me I might have it by Monday.

Slán go fóill,

Carey

If the whistle is going to be in a glossy black, another name to consider may be "Obsidian" which is the black glass you get from a volcanic eruption. It's quite beautiful stuff.
