Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Yeah, that was your American Customs. Our Customs over here are not that gentle.

They really had fun back then, torturing people to death (see the noose in the background). Sadly such entertainments are frowned upon nowadays.

Really? Listened to/watched/read the news much lately (aftermath of Libya, stuff about "The War on Terror" etc.)? The Merkins seem especially fond of them, now as ever...... and there's a nasty taint of Brit complicity. Sure, many of us both sides of the pond deplore such things, but many do not.

I don't usually participate in tours. But I suppose I should add my name to the list of interested parties, for the sake of being able to moderate this topic, when it arises, based on empirical experience. I'm not much of a fluter myself, but I'll put the instrument in the hands of several very well-qualified fluters for testing and feedback.

I'm about ready to send the McCarty on tour. I received the Casey Burns flute today... and there is really no comparison, though the McCarty still does pretty well for what it is. I may have the Burns flute surgically grafted to my lower lip.

I will get the McCarty flute out the "Jemtheflute" early next week. All folks interested in the European tour go ahead and let me know. When we get her back stateside...I want to start with MTGuru, and we'll work from there.

I've never done a "tour" before, so I'd appreciate any feedback on what to expect, and how to ensure my wayward flute returns to me.

If it's OK with you, voggy_dog, I will liaise directly with Jem and have the flute after him. I'll happily send it on to whoever's next in the queue (unless there is someone else nearer to Jem who wants in there :poke: ).

I have mailed the McCarty flute to Jem, should be in his hands in 6-10 days from today (Sept 15, 2011). I look forward to his take on the instrument.

I second MTG's thanks. I'm looking forward to being able to form a proper opinion! And of course, I can make a direct comparison (including photographically) with my P-word one - if I can find it from the shed!

Tell us something.: Love playing trumpet and modern flute at church as well as Irish trad flute in a band. Been playing Irish trad and 18th century period music for about 15 years.
