Given the choice of living anywhere, real, imaginary, & fictional during any period of time, which would you choose? To help you out, I've given some polling options but of course, you have the choice "Other" which I expect most everyone to select. Why do I bother? You may choose up to 2 options (who doesn't bi-locate or have a summer home?) and re-voting is permitted.

I'd prefer free and open travel.

I need rivers and lakes, blackwater rivers with spanish moss and bald cypress, I also need vistas and deserts, climbable rock, saltwater fishing, trout streams, XC ski-able snow, no hot weather, conifer forests, temperate rain forests, good birding, plenty of herps, wildflowers out of the....,etc. To do all this I need a Honda.

After reading James Michener's book Cheasapeake, I decided I wanted to be a member of one of the peaceful tribes that lived in that area way before white people came and ruined it. My other choice was Hogwart's. I wanna live somewhere there is bona fide magic. I don't think Atlantis had magic.

I made my choice 27 years ago, and moved to my favourite country: England.
Given free access to the time machine, though, I would probably have gone back another 20ish years to experience London in the 60s.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

There's all that plus the fact that it's almost heaven in West Virginia what with the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River. Of course there's more Shenandoah River in Virginia than that low down, no account, secessionist state of West Virginia.

Virginia is actually the portion of the original state that seceeded from the Union. We stayed. They should have changed their name.

    You are absolutely right! A friend of mine found a book of the minutes of the Virginia legislature meeting in 1862 that talks about the states in rebellion as if they were the enemy. It took him awhile to realize it was about the part of Virginia that wasn't in rebellion against the Union.

I'm perfectly happy living where and when I am now.

There would be some definite advantages to living in a city, and it would be nice to be able to walk to things (like the store, or a concert, or a museum), but there would be disadvantages too.
