Did anybody have any experience with them? I'm a flute player and I'm not into piping, but this could be a useful tool for a folk group, and I was thinking about getting a set some day.

I didnt think my opinion would be of any help, because I havent tried them. Yet, have been very curious about them for a while. I'd like to see their software a little more open (for ex: upload your own instrument samples into the thing), and would prefer that the chanter & drones go out seperate audio channels.
So, I'll wait until redpipe 2.1

I haven't tried them either.
If you can read German, there are some postings about them in these forums:
http://sackpfeifenbau.de and http://sackpfeifenclub.org - just do a search (Suche) for "Redpipe".
To sum it up, everybody who has heard about them has ideas how to make them better, some people have actually tried them, most of these liked them, very few own them...
I know of only one single band who use them in their performances, mostly due to the fact that the bandleader is suffering from severe health problems which don't allow him to play "real" bagpipes any longer.

I have a friend who uses them to perform. I tried them and loved them. They are on my wish list. Right now I am useing Degers.

Ah, so that were the electronic bagpipes I saw Gwenlann perform with a very long time ago!
I used to chuckle about the idea of electronic bagpipes back then, but hey, you get used to anything.
I suspect their album was actually recorded with the very same pipes, so have a listen to their Myspace to get an impression of their recording qualities.

I've seen Neil Anderson play them on stage. He is able to do some really nifty things with them that he can't do with "real" pipes. And they're always in tune.
