Sam Murray 3 key for sale
Sam Murray 3 key for sale
I'm looking to sell my 3 key Murray. It's in excellent condition, no cracks and freshley padded and corked with original case. I'm only selling it because i am playing my own flutes now, it's a beauty. Not sure what to ask for it. Any suggestions? Cheers

I'm making blackwood Rudalls at the moment, but hoping to make Prattens too.
I like a strong dark pure sound as opposed the the harsh breathy tone that some prefer. Got the Murray from Glen Watson who was doing the same course as myself at Newark.
Cheers

Re: Sam Murray 3 key for sale
this is interesting to me... another Murray just sold and i got a pm from someone asking me how much they should ask for a keyed Murray.
so i emailed him for his price list; do you have the blackwood or boxwood 3-key? and does it have the adjustable screw end cap or curled rings?
fyi, his wait list for the 3-key is 4-6 months, at 1,175 euro for the blackwood, 1250 euro for the boxwood. (presently $1588.15 and $1688.93 respectively, according to xe.com).
then... pricing used instruments totally depends on demand... if there is demand, they can do at or above the initial sale price. if the demand is less, typically i can get 75-80% of the initial value.
but in these dark times, when even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress, everything is basically guesswork.
cheers,
eric

Hi all, The Murray has Cnat, g#, and long Fnat. No fancy rings, no adjustable endcap. Head joint partially lined (usual for Sam)with original case.
Re: Sam Murray 3 key for sale
Ah sorry, this is a blackwood flute
Re: Sam Murray 3 key for sale
Thanks for all the interest in my flute. It seems that £850 would be a reasonable price.Do I need to move this post?

Re: Sam Murray 3 key for sale
Lovely
Wish I could justify it -- too many flutes already, and none of them instruments a sane person would let go of. That said, I've always thought a 3-key blackwood Murray would be pretty much my ideal flute. My keyless is a cracker, and hey, how many times do I really need more than F, C, and G#?
