Hey

A forum about Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the surly people who play them.

Got a lot of snow and working from home. LOTS of snow. After I get done clearing my driveway, I was going to test out my new Daye chanter that I just completed last night.

Here in Jersey the ice is falling on top of the mounds of snow. A great winter.

We just finished two weeks of temps in the high 70's/low 80's and now it's cooling a bit...highs will be in the low 60's this week. I don't envy you all in the snow. I'm sure it's not for the faint of heart...kinda like learning Uilleann Pipes, huh?

Drifts were 5 ft. deep at my mothers house in Mukwonago WI, and are about 3.5 ft deep in Milwaukee. My gf's dad has been stuck in a ditch all night and hasn't been able to get out yet. Plan for the day: Pancakes and Pipes. Maybe some computer games. Classes were all canceled yesterday, thank God. SO now I'm just waiting for the princess to wake up so I can play my pipes.

I'm thinking Fraher's Jig. Does that sound good Johnred?

Two to three feet drifts here, with at least three feet of the heavy, wet stuff the plow throws in my driveway. Have to dig out here first, before I can even think of going out to help the in-laws. School's out here. Didn't matter much if they canceled or not, couldn't get me or my kids there if I wanted to! Once my nose thaws, I will definitely get the pipes out!

It's snowing like crazy here in Detroit... big, beautiful, slow falling flakes. It's awesome.
Working on "The Rocks of Bawn."
Seems apropos for the day, it's the only tune I can think of that even relates to snow.
Are there any other winter tunes that anyone can think of?

I think of you just about every other weekend when I drive through Muskegon to Manistee Scott... We need to get together for some tunes on Lake Michigan this summer.

My future Father-in-law is still stuck, but the plows are now going, so he'll be out soon. I can't even get out of Milwaukee right now, so there's no help from me in his future! ahaha. He's a nice guy though, I like him. Rocks of Bawn? I'll look it up, and Easter Snow too. We should have a Lake Michigan Tionol. That'd be right on.....
