Killarney to ban bad busking
It appears that a street noodler is giving buskers, and particularly those who abuse the tin whistle, a bad reputation http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ire ... 60394.html.
But who'd a thunk that Killarney of all places would strike a blow for good taste ?

Re: Killarney to ban bad busking
I have to admit, I've had to work in an office in London where some character with a trumpet made us all wish he was dead for a couple of hours each lunchtime.
But who decides whether it's good or bad?
(The courts would have to take the approach that if anyone complained, it's bad.)
And it hasn't addressed the big question:
is it begging?

Oh, this deserves placement in the Whistle forum.
P.S. Is the "band" in that photo supposed to be a family of travellers?
Well there's the problem right there. Clearly, he's playing the 400-part setting of "The Humours of Insanity", with variations.Killarney town councillor John O’Donoghue said a man with a tin whistle was playing the same tune at the same corner every day, and office workers were being driven to the edge of sanity.
He did not know the name of the tune.

That is some lazy "journalism". Clearly the reporterKillarney town councillor John O’Donoghue said a man with a tin whistle was playing the same tune at the same corner every day, and office workers were being driven to the edge of sanity.
He did not know the name of the tune.
could have tracked down the busker and asked him.
He just said the guy was at the same corner every
day.

Either it was correct or it was another case of 'all Irish music sounds the same'. But would anyone want leave that up to a councillor to decide?
