Burke DASBT (High D) experience

Post by Arch_Angel »

I am not very experenced, but I wanted to post some raw recordings for others to hear it's qualities.

In DIGITAL STEREO w/o FX:

I really LOVE this whistle. It is very responsive.
The notes are easy to bend.
I'm still adjusting to using significantly less pressure.
Its almost to easy to tongue into the second octave.
I'm confident I could easily play into the 3rd and maybe 4th octaves, but my ears sure can't take it.
The design of the tuning slide is interesting. I'll have to post an image later (unless somebody beats me).
The tone wasn't what I expected at all, and I'm not complaining. I was actually expecting it to sound more my like my Kerry Songbird.

I want to thank, MarcusR for offering to let me play his whistle. Your really going to love this one, Marcus.

Yes, I was VERY nervous playing these clips. Otherwise, I would have done something a little more complex.

You may enjoy listening to what a Burke whistle sounds like in the hands of a pro. Check out track six here:

Thank You, for your input.

I admit my playing wasn't top caliber. The idea is to allow people who haven't heard a Burke (High D), a chance to hear it with no FX. Track 6 & 13 were low whistles. Track 9 was to muddled to concentrate on the whistle part.

I encourage everbody to post additional media featuring a Burke DASBT (High D). I do ask three requirements.

1. Features a Burke DASBT Whistle (High D).
2. No FXs (such as reverb, EQ, ect.) If it does please post which effects are used. If you are not sure if a track has any FXs, Please list as FX unknown (U/K).
3. Please make sure the media demonstrates some quality not demonstrated by a previous post. The tracks mentioned would have been great for demostrating the Burke playing a jig. I would also like someone to post an aire with lots of note bending.

Thanks,
Mike
