Hi,
checking to see if there are any, may be moving down there, and hope to find some sessions.

Cheers,
Steve

I guess that nobody checks here or no one knows of any going on.
I looked at the thesession.org already, most of what is listed is not active anymore, there are some outside of town that I know about.

Cheers,
Steve

I went to a session at a Pizza place in San Antonio last Memorial Day weekend. Mostly fiddles. One other flute player, who had driven in from some distance away. No pipes. No squeezies. One upright bass. Mostly Old Time music. A few Irish tunes played square, al la contradance; not much Irish music. Still had a good time.

Contact Cliff Moses to see if there are any private house sessions going on.

Austin is a bit up the road. There is a lot more Irish music there.

Houston where I live is a good 3+ hours drive away. We have 2 regular sessions, on Wed and Thurs nites, if your schedule ever takes you our way.

Also check out O'Flaherty's Irish Music Retreat up near Ft. Worth every October. 3 days of great schtuff. Instructors from Ireland and all over. Sessions, concerts.

Well, CCE is coming to visit March 24-27. See viewtopic.php?f=9&t=80800 for details.

Larry, I hope you can drive over for some tunes.

All the best,

Tom

Tom,

Thanks for the tip. Had no idea.

Unfortunately, our band may be in the studio that weekend trying to get a few tracks put away. Scheduling pending. We'll see....

Actually the reports above are a little stymied and inaccurate!

Yes there is a session at Pizza Italia on Thousand Oaks ( N Side off of 281 N ), and yes it does have a lot of OT and other stuff besides Irish music.

But to be fair to San Antonio we have several real Irish musicians here. Some of them go to the PI meetings on Thursdays - at least they used to when last I checked it out.

There are several whistle players, a few box players and a couple of concertina players, as well as the few fluters already mentioned.

Which explains to me why CCE had its US national convention here.
