Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Deirdre Smyth RIP

Post by benhall.1 »

I've just heard, about an hour ago, that a good friend of mine, Deirdre Smyth, passed away on 12th March. Her funeral, apparently, was yesterday.

She was a lovely, lovely person and a very fine fiddler indeed. She was quiet, with a lively sense of humour - quiet, that is, until she played, when the sound of her playing would fill a session. What a musician!

Rest in peace, Deirdre. I'll miss the tunes, your wonderful music and your company.

Ben

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.
