Forever a complex, at times controversial figure he's not easily summed up for an obituary but what music he made.

Here he is, speaking about the old musicians and their music at the graveside during Joe Ryan's funeral in Inagh:

Here, once again, is his The Language of Passion. He brought passion to it all, that's for sure. And he didn't mind speaking his mind.

R.I.P Tony McMahon. I'm only learning of his passing now. I enjoyed Tony's music quite a lot. He was a big advocate of Irish traditional music and not behind the door on putting his opinion out there. Sad couple of days for music with the passing of Paddy Moloney today aswell. R.I.P lads
