I'm sure the madfortrad cd is good, but you might also try these:

although I agree with John that there's no substitute for a teacher (not even a substitute teacher, which I was for awhile :P ) I know that a bodhran teacher may not be easy to find where you live. I was able to learn some basics from the Hannigan video, although my whistle/flute teacher also played the bodhran (and fiddle, and banjo, and bouzouki, etc), so she taught me a few things as well, even though I decided not to (try to) become a bodhran player after all (the crowd stands and cheers). good luck all the same.

The Mad for Trad tutor is about as good as you can get for a non-person teacher. It is definately a step up from a lot of the video ones in that it helps teach you to keep your rhythms from being monotonous while staying with the format of the songs.
