Re: Any accordion players?
i play some D box (one-row and C#/D), though mostly i play mandolin and tenor banjo these days. TeriK plays the B/C, Ro3b plays both C and D boxes i believe. i'm sure there are a few more.Jay-eye wrote:Not many accordion players around here.
there are a couple of email lists you might be interested in, both are on Yahoo.

both have been a little quiet of late, though.

There are a handful of us around here. At least that's all that have come out of the closet.Jay-eye wrote:Not many accordion players around here.

Why the query... have some good jokes to share?

No jokes - closet dwellers are safe here with me, honest!
Just picked up a Hohner 12 bass piano accordion and I'm having great fun with it. So logical - and so in tune!
Thought it might be nice to find others so I can get a bit of input about what to go for next - fancy a 72 bass. Won't move over to button though.

I'm afraid that piano accordian players will be even more scarce around here than button box players.
There's a great website with links to all things accordion that may help:
http://www.accordionlinks.com/index.cfm
Unless, of course, we could possibly sway you to try the button box

- Tell us something.: I've been playing whistle for a very long time, but never seem to get any better than I was about 10 years ago. I'm okay with that. :)

I play mostly one-row D box but I haven't been spending much time on it lately (got side-tracked with flute and tenor banjo). I don't have a nice accordion right now which also makes it less tempting (I do have a nice flute).
I'm on the lookout for a good one-row box in D and will probably snap one up off eBay or something in the near future and spend some more time on it.

Well, I know I'm bucking the trend - sorry and all that - but I'm going to stick with the piano accordion.
I've gained a bit of keyboard knowledge over the years and the start I feel that gives me compared to the unknown button layout is too valuable to waste, imho.
Anyway, look what a great fist the likes of Karen Tweed and Alan Kelly make of it!
