Boston Pipe Works C Chanter Staple Dimensions?

Post by Brazenkane »

If there's anyone out there who would be so kind as to post staple dimensions for the Boston Uillieann Pipeworks C chanter, I would be grateful.
I emailed the workshop and got no response.

Does not one person out there own a C chanter of this make? Does anyone know the maker, as I have yet to receive an answer to my inquiry via email.

Thanks

A staple for C chanter dimensions by top makers usually is 3.2 id by 50 - 52 mm.

Can you give measurements of the C reed in this chanter.
Head length/width, scrape length overall length of reed.
A photo of the C reed would be good to see.

Cheers

Tell us something.: Been a piper about 20 years (uilleann), flute on and off over the years, classical and trad. Played classical piano growing up, bought one recently for my daughter to take lessons on, and got right back into it, but this time playing Irish tunes (Pádraig O'Reilly is my current idol).

Just this past weekend, I got a UPB chanter in C. I don't have measurements to hand, but could probably get them over the weekend, if that would help. I've got 3-month-old twins, so I'm a little distracted these days ;-) Remind me (PM me) if I don't post over the weekend.

...I used a 5/32 tubing which was considerably smaller than what the reed that came w/it had. I built a curly maple reed for it and the chanter works!

me happy!

So, as promised (if a little late), some reed dimensions for Boston Uilleann Pipeworks C chanter reed.

Head width: 10.6mm
Reed length: 82.4mm
Brass tubing, 4mm internal diameter

And, as best I could estimate without dismantling the reed, the staple length is about 48mm.

Hope that helps.
