I'll be dressed as Michael Hubbert as it looks like he won't be able to make it due to scheduling conflicts.

Hi Pat

The information on your web page on Nollaig MacCárthaigh need some corrections.
The concert pitched set by pipemaker Peter Hunter with chanter by Andreas Rogge.
The set by pipemaker Joe Kennedy is pitched in C sharp not C natural.

Cheers

Hello Patrick,
I'd consider using a much better/recent photo of Tommy Martin

Would be interesting to know what pipes Tommy plays?

Just an idea. Have fun, Miki

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

I think it's a Thompson (body)/Bourke (chanter) gemisch if I recall.

Maybe he'll tell you himself on this here forum.

haloween costume

A few years ago, the North East Tional was over the Halloween weekend and there was a prize for best costume for both piper and pipes. The most memorable for me was Richie Wolf's pipes dressed as "Ghost D" and David Power (with no costume) looking much like Frodo as he stood next to someone in a Gandolf costume from Lord of the Rings.

Yes, that's the one, with the mighty James Kelly looming over his shoulder. I doubt he'll be sporting it at the So. Cal Tionol, but maybe if folks ask him nicely...

Anyhoo, I wish the Tionol every success, Elvis or not.!!!

I thought I remembered some more in that series on Tommy's website -- these featuring the entire band, including Pat Egan, I think in matching ensembles -- but I guess he removed them to make room for pictures of the lovely new pipes he's making. Tough call -- lovely pipes, Tommy as Elvis/lovely pipes, Tommy as Elvis .... Hmmm. :-D

OH NOOOOO, I hate costume parties! On the other hand, if I just come as I am, people will think I'm dressed as a zombie. Yeah, that might work. :o
